Wonderful video from start to finish. My ac went out and watching this video helped me discover a bulging capacitor. Amazon had a replacement and in less than 2 days, I'm all back to normal. Big thank you and you bet I subscribed

One of the best video and instructions on the subject. Very clear and delivery is near perfect. you are a good teacher. God bless you for transferring the knowledge to people who need it. This provides detailed instructions and confidence to home owners to trouble shot and fix their AC problems with out being taken advantage by not so honest repair people or sales personnel that usually push for replacing the unit prematurely. Thank you for your service.

I was 99% percent certain that there was an issue with my condenser fan because the fan was hot to the touch but it wasn’t spinning. Thank you for this vid

Thank you for these very clearly described tips on troubleshooting. Just found a bad capacitor and replaced it for 18$. Got the part on amazon. Saved me a bunch of money by not getting an HVAC technician to replace it. I’m subscribed!

Stumbled upon your video while searching for AC troubleshooting tips. Your instructions are quite comprehensive and with enough details to allow even the beginners such as myself start learning how to troubleshoot AC problems. Unfortunately, because I don't have the right tools or know how, my skill levels stopped at changing the capacitors of the outdoor unit that still won't start :( will be calling a service professional and most likely shedding some $$. I still find your video very instructional at understading what each component does. Thank You !

I have gone to an AC class in the community college but the information I got in 3 months is not as productive as what I've seen. It's very informative, clear, and cut to the chase. Thank you very much.

This is one of the best videos I've seen on this topic. Not many other videos are going to mention banging on the compressor with a rubber mallet and the hard-start kit. Very comprehensive.

The only thing you didn't mention is that turning the fan with your screwdriver like that will sometimes get the fan started in a pinch.

This is a really good video of how to. I used your steps to troubleshoot the AC issue I was having... somehow, i had turned off the power to the AC why attending to water leakage in the attic few days back. So after watching your video on two or three occasions, I troubleshooted on the unit using the steps and it led me to the AC power source that I never knew of it function in the attic. No repair, no parts needed just put back the switch on! This event also given me the opportunity of cleaning the evaporator section which has been causing terrible odour coming from the AC for a while now. That saves us a lot, we almost resulted to calling professional to fix the issues. Thanks a lot

Just to add though, all units are not the same, my thermostat is OLD, it is electro-mechanical using mercury for contact switch and the attic AC uses Gas for heating; the outside compressor uses a booster capacitor alongd with one small main capacitor looking rusty, and the power source from the wall to the unit is connected with no fuse in place. This is how we got the house, knew nothing about AC connection before now. Good tutor, thanks.

Your video is one of the best DIY I ever seen - use of screen shots, closeups, extra resources. Plus you explain things in a fashion that I can understand and I am not an electrician. Thank you!
