use to be a maintenance tech few years back after a few years I realize that u can only learn so much in the maintenance field . Capacitor, low on charge, blower motors and some other easy stuff then I got out of that field and went to work for a hvac company and learned how to size ductwork, how to do a heat load calculation, how to troubleshoot restrictions, non-condensables in the system as well working on high efficiency systems and geothermals (water furnaces ) my advice would be if you want to learn more about hvac work for a company learn as much as you can .get your certifications and go work for your self
