This song should of been #1 in America! He died in 1977 at only 29 years old, 2 weeks before his 30th birthday! Such a tragic loss

Amazing that this song was recorded on the cheap and in less than a day in a cut-rate studio in Los Angeles, CA.

My dad was friends with a bartender who would give him all the 45s from his jukebox anytime there was an update. This is the one I played the most. I still have it (and many of the other 45s).

@3:18 I love that they kept Howard Kaylan or Mark Volman's mistake in the backing vocals. You can hear a faint "oops!" They haven't made hit records like this in a long time. Perfect, sexy groove and a lot of fabulous attitude without overdoing it in Marc's lead vocal. Really great!

I was 14, and this is the first song I ever heard on FM radio, WPLJ 95.5 FM New York. "Electric Warrior" is 50 years old.

Arrived in New York City, New York, USA on the 9th of March 1972 from Europe, at age 18. Seems like WABC radio station (AM) played "Bang a Gong" by the Fabulous Rex Boys at least once every hour for the next 4 to 5 weeks. This is probably the best pop/rock songs ever recorded -- like ever. In the top 10, definitely.
