What is matter, anyway? What does it have to do with math? And why aren't you made of Jesus? Delving deeper into the theory of (almost) everything - the Standard Model of particle physics.

And twitter - @minutephysics

Minute Physics provides an energetic and entertaining view of old and new problems in physics -- all in a minute!

"Every time you do arithmetic, you use the same number 3 as Archimedes" I actually kinda like the sound of that

0:53 "...that's about as deep as saying that every time you do arithmetic, you use the same number 3 as Archimedes [This one]" - laughed out loud. Literally.

So... matter is like walmart. Wow, that was deep :D

So, if Matter is Walmart, then everything that isn't Walmart doesn't matter? Got it.

This video has left me feeling a lot more confused than I was before I watched it. I'm looking forward to more explanations!

Everytime I watch these things, I compared it taking up 4 yrs in college made in shortcut but still the General Info was still well explained and no one can mess with me if someone ask a brief analogy, I suddenly raise my hand and start to " Let's put it up this way " =D

Congratulations! You sir have just asked one of the greatest questions that I have ever heard in my life! This is actually going to spawn a new revolution in my thinking. Thank you for those few, enlightening words.

Behold and tremble! For I am the 3MAN! The great 3ness granted me power to summon 3 in any place at any time! Cross my path, and I will burry you in 3s!

"Feynman, I know why all electrons have the same charge and the same mass" "Why?" "Because, they are all the same electron!" (с) One-electron universe

I'm not sure if this is a gross oversimplification or a flat out nonsense.
Pauli exclusion principle applies only to fermions, and not all elementary particles are fermions. Moreover, fermions can congregate into non-elementary particles, which aren't fermions.

What Pauli exclusion principle is responsible for, its the electron shells of atoms. But matter takes space not because of Pauli principle but because of fundamental forces, namely electromagnetism and strong force, which actually determine size of atoms and atom nuclei.

Wtf have you done to me, im learning physics willingly and enjoying it :0 the way you explain gives another meaning to the word clarity

In quantum field theory, antimatter is usually visualized as a field disturbance in the opposite direction from regular matter. So positrons would stick out below the field in your picture, pointing downward. The fields, or the "fabric of space", are considered the things that "fill up space", and matter is thought of as something that happens to them.

but what about the moment just before the big bang when all energy and matter was concentrated in one infinitesimally small point? didn't all matter then occupy the same spacial place?
