Good to know about the reels, that's all I've got right now like 20 of them! I'm going to get a decent Penn spincast reel for when I start fishing saltwater exclusively again, and I'm really glad I saw this video because I forgot where to get those slam shadys. I use similar swimbaits all the time that are made for saltwater to catch largemouth bass. So I definitely see it working. Keep up these shorts they're helping me out a lot! God bless!

Large mouth will eat just about anything they can fit in their mouths, but stripper are more picky. I have used hundreds upon hundreds of lures from cheap crank baits to $120 glide baits and only a couple really work well. Like one is a chrome blue and silver top water plugs about 7 inches. I medium pace retrieve and pop it very fast. Also I have a $25 green and white swimbaits that works great! Flukes are reliable but I don't like using them because I can't cast far with them. But really about 90 percent of our strippers are on live herring that we hook through the nose and troll out the back like 60 feet out at 0.5 mph. On a bad day we catch about 5 stipper an ok day is 8 and good is 12+ and if they are really schooling like at least 20

I use a 12' carp rod for european bass here in the netherlands, the length and flexibility really help with the feel and cast length. Reeling in fish almost daily when i fish for years this way and it has been adapted here by multiple people.
4000 reel and done. (Line usually between .15 and .25 braided for any lure under 10grams. I even went as far as .35 braided with 17 grams when the current is fast)
