I think the difference between normal Tao and flower Tao is more like the difference between normal chakra and senjutsu chakra, rather than flower Tao being an additional element.

Also there are unique cases like the ‘justice guy’ where humans can possess and switch to multiple tao elements

I can't believe that Hell's Paradise basically says that opposites attract is the superior matchup

As someone who has read many xianxia novel i can now brag about my extensive knowledge of tao and qi. Also it's weird how the author named it tao instead of qi since tao is a different thing entirely.

I would've loved to see gabimaru fully master his flower tao. We never get to see him again after the 10 year timeskip at the end of the manga so we don't get to see how he full merged both his flame and flower tao and mastered it.

This was so informative and helpful cause I’m making a power system with several slight but also very important aspects that revolve around Taoism and Buddhism

I don’t think ninjutsu is connected to the elements. Yuzuriha was an earth Tao user and used mostly water related ninjutsu. Also the female shinobi from Iwa who was obsessed with Gabimaru was also able to use Ascetic Blaze but I’m not sure she was a fire Tao user

Tao, also known as Dao (also chinese), path (english), camino (Spanish), used in chinese novels (wuxia) to explain mystical ways of thinking of a person or their way of acting, it is something more related to comprehension and understanding than an energy itself, according to what I understand, also in those novels it is shown more that way, although I also liked the interpretation that was given here, if you are interested you can read the novel Xian ni (immortal renegade) or others by the same author

for me, Tao is perhaps like Nen in its early discovery, like people evolve the concept of tao from generation to generation and spread it to different places until it become Nen

As much as I love learning about new manga, they always inevitably start feeling like amalgamations of each-other. Story beats, character tropes, power systems… they all just melt together at the end of the day.

Watching this after anime episode 11 was perfect! Getting the intro from the source and THEN your breakdown (carefully and well done!) was super satisfying!

Perhaps in addition to general spoiler warnings, offering a “source content threshold” would draw more appreciation for your content! Just a recommendation, love the stuff man!

Ok guys sorry for the Length but my time has come. The spiritual and philosophical beliefs in this anime are essentially how I try to live my life. This is my religion. So pardon the length but I can add extra information to what Hammer says because I’m essentially a scholar in this subject. That being said please read on for better clarity.

For those wondering for a slightly better explanation of “the middle way”:

In Buddhism it is taught that in life we suffer due to our physical attachments.
By disconnecting from those physical attachments we can lessen our suffering.

One example used is a child’s sandcastle.
If your child builds a sandcastle, the child may show you but your connection to it is disconnected.
When the sea inevitably washes away the sandcastle the child will cry while you may feel bad for your child; but not for the sandcastle.
The child’s connection to its physical creating is greater than yours.
Now imagine that sandcastle was built not by your kid, but a friend of the child you never met.
You have no connection to this child and therefore have no care for this child’s “suffering”.

The same goes with life. The stronger the attachment to the physical the stronger the suffering will be when that thing finally disappears.

Nothing is permanent in life so we must be aware of this and ready ourselves to lose said thing.

The Middle way teaches us that while we cannot fully disconnect from the physical completely, since we are physical bodies and have physical needs, we can lessen our suffering by casting away the desire, gorge yourself on food; for example.
We must eat as creatures and will suffer if we cannot eat. But instead of eating yourself full, you eat only enough to sate your hunger. In doing so, there is more food for others and you have in turn lessened the suffering of others.
The Middle Way teaches us how to live in moderation and harmony with our natural desires.

As a Side note Tao is considered the energy of the universe. It exists in all things because without the Tao the physical cannot take form.
Think of the Tao as a gigantic pool of potential energy.
In Taoism this pool is calm. The energy put into this pool will cause waves which will have peaks and troughs; or positive and negative energy.
While this energy can be easily seen and understood, there is also a neutral energy hidden in the waves. A wave may form but will always return to that neutral state; even if for just a split second.
While there is both positive and negative energy, there is a philosophy in Taoism called “Wu Wei”, the action of inaction.
It means that sometimes it is not best to act aggressively or defensively but to stay in a neutral position so you can watch and see how things play out.
Boomi in Avatar speaks about this briefly when he is locked in the metal coffin. He watches patiently for the perfect time to act and then breaks out when the time is right with very little effort.

This is the energy and philosophy of what Hammer is describing. Hell’s Paradise just stylizes this into something more fantastic and mystical.

One thing, it's not flower tao, it's flower's tao. There are only 5 elements, there is no flower element. The flower also probably has element(s). Tensen have human('s) tao and flower('s) tao because they are both. This becomes even more certain for some spoilery reasons concerning 2 characters.
