Nen represents HxH itself. It's not a simple battle shonen [power system]. It's way more than that! It evolves as the story and plot go, it says something about a Nen user. It need a narrator and lastly it's beautiful to watch or read. Togashi needs to finish his master piece!

"Nen" really is the best fighting mechanism created in Shounen of all time in my opinion.

One small correction that I noticed. I looked through the comments and it doesn't look like anyone pointed it out. At around 8 minutes, you talk about how the Chimera Ant arc hints at nen after death (referencing terpsichora), but this concept was actually explained to Gon and Killua by Phinks right at the end of the Yorknew arc when they meet them at the auction house. Gon asks why the Troupe doesn't just hunt down and kill Kurapika to free Chrollo, and Phinks explains that it would most likely make Kurapika's nen go off after death, killing Chrollo. Great vid though.

you forgot the application of nen with the GREED ISLAND and how Togashi is hinting Demons with Melody, String of Fate with Neon, and MultiVerse with the 4th Prince.... well you mentioned Soul with the reincarnation.

Fights in HxH are well paced, but they mostly boil down to "I punch you harder with my nen, therefore you lose".
Meruem vs Netero, Gon vs Hisoka, Uvogin vs Shadow Beasts, Dodgeball match, Gon vs Knuckle, Gon vs Pitou, Gon and Killua vs most of Heaven's Arena enemies, Gon and Killua vs most of Chimera Ants, Biscuit vs everyone, all Spiders vs Chimera Ants fights - literally all of these boil down to what I said. This includes most of major fights in this anime. Some of other fights, like Gon vs Genthru, Killua vs those guys that threw darts, Hisoka vs Kastro, Gon vs owl and bat were damn good, but they're rare.
Meruem vs Netero was a chessmatch? How? Because the narrator told you so? That was basically all it was. Netero punching Meruem (with a cool-ass hatsu, but still) and Meruem fighting back. There was no thought process presented. Literally the whole complexity of the fight was narrator saying "Netero is good, but Meruem was recently playing Gungi, so he's smarter".
