A recent report from the Lancet Commission suggests that more than 200,000 lives could have been saved in the United States if a Medicare for All, Single Payer healthcare system had been in place when the coronavirus pandemic struck. Yet many Americans remain skeptical of Medicare for All, primarily because of the propaganda and scare tactics coming out of the for-profit healthcare industry, including Big Pharma, health insurance companies, medical device manufacturers, and their mouthpieces in the mainstream media.

In this clip Jimmy addresses the #1 myth about Medicare for All -- that we should be afraid of a "government takeover" of the healthcare system.

As a manager for a Claim's Adjudicator Office, I can testify that all insurance companies spend more time and effort on denying claims and fighting claims then providing service. They go as far as always telling doctors and hospitals what service their patient "needs". Like: No, they don't need an MRI, why did you do it?

IF THE GOVERNMENT GETS THE SAME HEALTHCARE AS THE CITIZENS, WE WILL GET EXCELLENT CARE LIKE THEM...

Why is it that people from other countries that have health care would rather come here for surgeries and such and pay for it out of their own pocket obviously their healthcare system doesn't work for them

This reminded me of a professor I had in college who was very vocal about his political opinions, for the most part he was a free market conservative type, however when it came to healthcare he was a huge advocate for not just medicare for all but nationalizing the healthcare industry. He spend a couple classes were he just went over all the reasons for it that had nothing to do with the curriculum, it was great.

What I absolutely hate about for-profit health insurance is the “Russian roulette” fear factor whenever I use it- never know if claim will come back denied or provider is “out of service network”...so stressful. And makes me not want to ever use (which is probably their goal).

I don't need the government to give me health care, I need the government to pay for it.

I wish Jimmy was more upfront & open about his *_stateism._* 😔 So many among his more recent audience appear thoroughly confused by his "mixed signals" on the matter: criticizing the government on one hand, calling for more government on the other. The problem, according to Jimmy, *is n o t the government PER SE.* ⚠️ The problem is *the CORPORATE CAPTURE of a government that SHOULD be captured by its PEOPLE instead.* 😤

The problem is that this runs straight into your issues with Fauci and mandates…. What happens when bureaucrats decide that you will lose your healthcare if you don’t do what they tell you to do?

The problem is not government. It’s the unholy marriage of corporate interests and government. Also known as fascism.

i know this because i have spoken to drs who have worked in major hospitals for a long time who got sick of the regulatory bs and opened for profit practices, and who have successfully out competed major hospitals in their areas on price and service.

What could possibly go wrong having the greediest, most power-hungry and most inept people on Earth being placed in charge of the People's health care?

I have always struggled to understand how Any American can support for profit healthcare in the face of overwhelming evidence that universal coverage can be delivered, with better outcomes, at a much cheaper price tag, and no more medical bankruptcies. I think part of the problem is American’s believe that universal single payer will be just like their health care now, with the exception being that you will have to get permission from/fight the government to get medical procedures and care instead of asking permission from/fighting an insurance company. They sincerely don’t realize that in the rest of the industrialized world, that fighting for coverage/authoritarian denial of coverage doesn’t exist. The only one involved in my medical decisions is my doctor and myself. The government simply pays the bill. Having to fight for your healthcare treatments and needs is a uniquely American thing. They just can’t even imagine that anything else could be a reality.

Biggest myth is that medicare is free for seniors. But if we all get on the same plan we can demand improvements much easier.

I am a proponent of a universal healthcare, but I would be fearful of the government enforcing treatments like the current administration is attempting to do through OSHA.

Or at least they may "suspend" service until people comply

A lot of the inflated prices we see come from the hospital and medical groups as well. My wife is a RN case manager in California who deals exclusively with government funded programs and medical insurance. These medical groups (urgent care, outpatient clinics etc) and hospitals routinely overcharge for services and medications because they know the government will pay. There is very little auditing or accounting of the funds they receive. That needs to change as well.
