to all the confused people, I listened to this a couple of times and what I basically got was:

1. when someone asks for advice regarding their business, don't rush to answer the question, try to have a better understanding of the question first.
2. Break down the question to the person who asked it using their vocabulary. in the example he gives, for instance, ask what "best" means to them. Don't ask them about the details when the question is too general.
3. think about some possible answers to their question and then start breaking down their question by asking them more specific ones to eliminate some of your hypothetical answers, and also to realize if their business is on the right track or if they need to change their gears asap.

Hey for anyone having trouble: Broken down in easy to follow steps. 😉

- Try and rephrase the question to get your lead to confirm understanding.
- Mirror their language, if they say "best", "grow", etc. Say the same words and seek more details.
- Think of what their ideal solution would be by ruling out what it isn't. Use focused questions that narrow your options. (Ex. "Are you a boy or girl?" > "Are you over the age of 35")

Great process, reminds me of Dr.Banks in the movie arrival trying to build a vocabulary first before communicating with the aliens. The part where you broke down the question, "What's the best way to build a business?"

Sometimes I fall asleep in movie theaters and then wake up all confused because of the audience's raucous. I ask my friends wtf happened? yo! wtf is going on bruh? and they just shrug me off (eyes fixed on the screen)... Same way I feel after watching this, completely lost.

This was something I did so effortlessly and was really good at before covid. Not gonna blame it entirely but I do think the isolation had an impact on many people including me. I’m an intern right now and am trying to figure out how to get my tag ups from 10 to 20 minutes and it really has to do with asking questions. My mind goes blank on what to ask now a days. 1. Get clarity on the question
2. Only use the language they are using
3. Get clues from the question itself
