The fourth panel of our sixth annual conference focuses on the economics, priorities, and impacts of weapons sales in the Middle East and North Africa. Speakers discuss trends in international arms transfers and weapons exports to the region, the role of the United States, Russia, and China as the world’s first, second, and fifth largest arms exporters (respectively), and the objectives and priorities of arms exporters to the Middle East and North Africa. Panelists focus on to the humanitarian dimension and human costs of weapons sales across the region and consider US policies and regulations tied to arms sales as well as offer policy recommendations for the Biden Administration.
