In this video, I will give my first impressions of Simplify3D slicer software.
First thing that caught my attention, is how fast it is!, I mean not Tesla fast, but more like Superjet fast! Let’s see more.
- Oh if you have noticed, it also keeps the last models loaded when you restart, that's cool!
- Another great feature, it has a ton of printers profiles, look at that list! Even my old and not too popular Hictop i3 is there!
- I also found that Simplify3D has ample documentation, written and in videos. For example:

- You also have custom supports; you can place them where you want efficiently, that is helpful in many cases.
- You can control the printer when directly connected, no need for another software it's all in one.
- And there are many advanced features, here is some that I found so far:
- Dynamic layer speed, like in this example, going up the hat, speed is reduced to give a beautiful finish printing the small tip of this hat.
- You have mesh repair and errors detection.
- You can flip the model fast, use the option "Place on bed Surface" and clic a face to have it facing the bed, like this.
- You get numerical inputs for X, Y, Z positioning, scaling and rotation.
- An automatic placing of parts that works great!

My impressions are that it’s made to be fast, easy and efficient.

The downside is its price, compare to free options it’s not cheap, but if you like something fast, with excellent user support, a workhorse, and you have more than one printer, I think it’s a good investment!

Thanks to Simlify3D for providing me a copy to review, and I will follow with more videos on things I find in this software that could also help you guys.

Hi, I'm Frank my channel is all about 3D printing. I can't get enough of my 3D printer. I make everything and anything out of 3D filament (PLA, PETG and more). As I say a printer that is not printing is a missed opportunity.

I'll be doing electronics, mechanics, computer engineering, DIY, reviews and tutorials.

I update twice a week on Tuesday and Saturdays.

I really enjoy that your videos are concise and to the I've been considering trying S3D. Maybe I will. I remember seeing a video from someone, recently, that stated there is really only one thing S3D can do that Cura, etc. can't do. I just can't remember what that person said it is.... Comment??

I have been having issues lately with simplify3d. Preview slicing is very slow with large, even simple objects, when i rotate a sliced model, there is so much lag. Any idea what could be happening? This happened after tye 4.10 update by the way. Please help.

I just don't see the value when there are so many really polished snd open source alternatives like Cura, etc.
I really love to support open source, so it will be a hard close to sell me on giving up $149 when I only paid $175 for my Ender 2. I hear it's really good, but Nope.

I have stated this many times....how much MORE money would S3D generates for the company....IF they reduced the cost?
The free to use software obviously have more users than S3D generates...and many would purchase S3D ...if the cost became sensible for none profit making hobbyists. No trial version....you pay full money up front and have the option to cancel in 14 days....then wait to get your money back! Cura and Retetier have served my none professional none profit making needs adequately.

More of the same. The program looks fantastic but there is that $149 price.
