what is wrong with just using a swivel to hook your leader line to the mainline. Rods have a hook keeper that you can run your leader line then use the rod guide to place your hook in place so you can transport and move it. For me, it's much easier and more secure especially if you need to change lure or use a different rig. Just saying.
