Abdulrahman Anwar al-Awlaki (also spelled al-Aulaqi, Arabic: all jagg August 26, 1995 - October 14, 2011) was a 16-year-old United States citizen who was killed by a drone strike on October 14, 2011, under a policy approved by U.S. President Barack Obama. During her years in the Obama administration, Haines worked closely with John Brennan in determining administration policy on extra-judicial "targeted killings" by drones.[5] Newsweek reported Haines was sometimes called in the middle of the night to evaluate whether a suspected terrorist could be "lawfully incinerated" by a drone strike.
