I was excited, or "hyped" as the kids say, for this i5-13600k build. After building the entire system, I discovered an issue that caused me to have to re-rebuild my entire system...

The Intel Core i5-13600k is the somewhat recent 14 core release from Intel. Sporting a 10nm (now known as Intel 7 Ultra) cutdown Raptor Lake-S die, this chip has the horsepower to slog through games, video editing, and programming!

Building a Budget PC can be tough. Not only are GPUs and CPUs so incredibly expensive, but they can be hard to find on a budget... But, there are tips and tricks to finding you your dream Budget GPU, and pairing it with a CPU that will give you the performance you want!

Also, if you're reading this far - I've got more content coming!

Have a Great Day!

Bro buys a whole cpu to fix bios instead of a USB stick .. lmao 😂

My reply keeps getting deleted for some reason. But essentially you need to download the bios and rename it on a fat32 formatted USB drive. Put the drive in the red slot with the word bios written above it. Then push the button and it should take about 8 minutes to complete! All that's needed is power to the board. Good luck! I hope you get this working! :)

If your mobo has a flash bios button on the i/o, it does not need memory or cpu to be installed to flash the bios.

I needed a bios flash when doing a 7700k build way back in 2017. I just brought it to a local pc shop and they installed a 6th Gen cpu and flashed the bios for me for $25. Surprised the usb flash wouldn't work for this board tho

you can do it without a cpu with just a flash drive

My motherboard was claimed to need a bios update to be compatible with 13th gen cpus too but I bought it used so I was lucky enough to not have to update it.

high end boards often have USB bios flashing if you check your manual. if anybody isn't going to include something though its gigabyte.

So what cpus are all being affected? I have a 13600kf and am worried about the lifespan of my build.

What’s the best gpu for the i5-13600K?

I just checked and it does, so you don't need a new CPU, just a USB drive to perform the update. There are lots of guides online! Hopefully you can get your money back on the old CPU that you don't actually need!

I have no idea what you’re saying because I’m a noob building my first ever pc. Can someone explain what he means in simple terms

Your Z690 board doesn't have flashback from USB? That's actually shocking on an expensive premium motherboard. I have a 13600k in an ASRock Steel Legend Z690 and I just put the 13th gen bios on a memory stick and flashed without the CPU in the motherboard. A lot of motherboards support no-CPU flashing as a basic feature.

Good work getting the celeron to do the job though, you can sell it again afterwards for pretty much no loss!

Just a recommendation here but you should use a contact frame with lga1700 cpus

Buy a cheap petium or celeron to use it to update your bios. Totally not worth it to buy 2 cpus but your Celeron/pentium/i3 could be usefull in the future.
