Year of the Fighter at AirVenture 2019

The bombers got the spotlight in 2017, and air tankers got their turn last year, but EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019 was without a doubt the Year of the Fighter. From a historic and huge gathering of P-51 Mustangs to modern iron like the F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II wowing crowds by demonstrating some of their capabilities, AirVenture attendees got great looks at incredible fighters all week long.

Mach 1.6 top speed for the F-35? I'm no expert, but unless the airframe simply cannot take speeds any faster (which I doubt), having an engine that produces 43, 000lbs of thrust is capable of pushing that thing a heck of a lot faster than Mach 1.6.
