3d printing: measure twice, print 5 times. ;D

Only a 3D printing channel would think to blur their keys! :p

0:50 Censure the keys. Quite clever considering most of your viewers own a 3D printer :)

I got excited seeing the pixelated keys! I have explained to many people why you should blur your keys in photos. I have even showed a couple people how I can replicate their key. but thats mostly because in the US most houses use schlage or kwikset so getting pinning profiles is very simple. So glad to see someone already in the know!

Also again loving seeing the quality rapidly improving on the channel plus a big time sponsor!?

I do similar for my truck, but i put i IQ CHARGER on it, so now i just slide the phone in the support and it show me the route and charge in same time. With simple modification you can do same on yours and get the big advantage

I was planning on doing this, but I just went with a windshield suction-cup mount that had an FM transmitter on it.

Yeah, my car is old enough to not have an AUX input, but too new to have a cassette player that could be adapted. Mounting it on the lower left (US) corner of the windshield seems the safest; it doesn't get in the way and it's really easy to glance at it.

Hahahahahahahaha! When you said "ok google" my phone stopped the video and listened!

I always have to solve my *printer's* problems, instead of using it to solve others lol.

1. OnShape is absolutely beautiful and I am so happy it is a thing. Starting my internship this summer and having to use Solidworks will suck...
2. The video style rocks and is a breath of fresh air from other 3d printing videos out there!
3. I was completely unaware that you could do different settings for prints and print sequentially...and I was always mad cause you can with Cura. Life. Changing.

Ich liebe deine Videos!
Du bist der Grund, weshalb ich mir einen 3D Drucker geholt habe.
Mach weiter so, Kollege! :)

Hi Thomas! Thanks for the inspiration! I've designed and printed a push in slot for my phone which connects to my car play stereo based in your idea.

Great practical prints! it's a lot more fun to see you guys print something useful rather than just display pieces! I feel like there's been a 'recent' shift in that direction on different channels

Thank you for this great video. I've recently started designing my own parts and also love the fact that you can iterate so quickly by adjusting the parts and printing to test the fit. I really appreciate the walkthough of the design process and learned quite a bit. I need to experiment some more with tapping parts and joining using screws. Again, thanks for the great videos!

You could have used the accelerometer on the phone to get the angle. The program "bubble" works great for that.

Similar task brought me into 3d printing 6 years ago. I've designed a small adapter frame to put 7inch tablet in 2din opening and ordered a print. The result was so pretty 3d printing service had its photo on their frontpage for like 2 months.

Nice one Tom! Coincidentally, as I know you're into your mountain biking, I designed a system to use the same GoPro quick release bracket for USB power packs, just inverted and the opposite side attached underneath the Garmin mount. It takes up very little room and increased the life of the Garmin GPS from 3 hours to 20. With two inputs it can also charge my phone in case I break my leg on a jump far from civilisation (again).

The problem is one needs to remake this holder after every phone upgrade. Which is actually not a problem in case you are the very designer of the holder and still have original cad files to modify. That's a biggest plus of DIY methodology: if I make it myself, I can fix it!

That turned out pretty great! Nice work!
You should 3D print a key cover for your car videos so you don't have to use editing time to blur them out!
