Can I Drive a Manual Car on an Automatic Licence
Показать описание
To some of you this may seem like a stupid question, “can I drive a manual on an automatic licence.” Before I continue I must there are no stupid questions - only questions.
In many countries such as the States and Canada, there is no difference between a manual and automatic licence. A licence is a licence. The only difference is between a full and provisional one. So in America, you can pass your driving test in an automatic and drive a manual. Someone from the states can even come here on holiday and rent a manual car without a problem.
I'm making this video as one of our subscribers came from Canada and has been driving a manual car in the UK for a whole year. She then applied to exchange her Canadian licence for a full UK driving licence. However, she was given an automatic licence as she originally took her test in an automatic.
If you have full automatic driving in the UK, you can only drive a manual as a learner driver with L plates. That means you must be supervised.
However, there is an option to upgrade your automatic licence to a full manual. In order to do so, you will need to take a practical driving test in a manual car.
So, for Americans, Canadians, Australians, I hope that I have answered your question about driving a manual car on an automatic licence.
