Performance Testing the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT! | MotorWeek Quick Spin

Ford is going electric in a big way. Not by starting a new brand. But rather, by electrifying two of their most popular and historic model nameplates. The F-150, and of course the Mustang. Yes, the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E reimagines America’s original pony car as a fully-electric all-wheel-drive utility vehicle; but an exclusive Quick Spin in the rarest model, a Mach-E GT Performance Edition, reveals that “performance” is in the name for good reasons.

Whaaaat what's the deal with that weak ass trap time? That seems really off. Was it not running right? Is power electronically limited for some reason?

Going go 60 in 3.5 seconds is really gonna lower your Social Credit score and may get your driving privileges revoked.

Ford said we can't have this thing preform to much.

This is not a mustang, they should have just called it the Mach E.

A great performer or daily driver. Thanks for sharing.

And it STILL has an i-Pad afterthought clinging to the dash like a leech. Millions in development cost yet they couldn’t figure out how to integrate the screen into the dashboard.

12.4? Not exactly slow but that after hitting 60 in 3.5. Time to get a Tesla.

It looks good, is fast but it should have been called the Mach e, hopefully Ford will not kill the Mustang and replace it with this. I saw one in person and it’s not as practical as other suv in its class. It’s small and lacks cargo room. The back seats are not very spacious. It’s a bit disappointing, especially at that price range.

Ford could make more Mustang-inspired EVs e.g. Mach-S sports sedan, Mach-X crossover-like shooting brake, Mach-C hot hatch and shooting brake, Mach-G 3-row SUV, Mustang GTE 2-door, and even a Shelby version of the Mach-E compact crossover.

Also, Ford can apply the 'Lightning' moniker to EV versions of the Super Duty, Maverick, and Ranger like it did with the F-150. It can even do the same to an EV version of the Transit van (meaning the e-Transit will need to be replaced once the current gen Transit's life cycle ends). The 'Thunder' moniker would go to EV versions of the Expedition, Bronco, Bronco Sport, and Explorer. An Escape Thunder may join, but the Edge will be phased out for good.

Performance Golf Cart. Good looking vehicle, but I'll never warm up to these E cars.

Not sure why they call it a Mustang when it looks like a Ford Focus ST or RS. I was sad to see the ST and RS go but now, happy to see the Focus is back.

It doesn't even do 3.5 0-60. I don't think anyone I've seen have been able to do that. The numbers are all over the place and depend heavily on battery charge and how hot the vehicle is.

Why does Ford keep repeating the same mistakes? Remember the Mustang II?

This is just a electric suv not no mustang !!! Mustang is and has a V8 rumble
Future sucks big with all going electric
But I'd be keeping all my V8 rumbles thank you

3.5 to 60 is awesome but 103 through the trap is lame. Why make a GT version.

Actually they only electrified one current model, the f150. The Mach e is NOT a mustang. The fact that you keep calling it that is hilarious

Great review. The interior looks very bland.

With the gas powered Mustang GT putting up 11.8 @ 119mph bone stock at the track I fail to see these over the top descriptions regarding the Mach E performance when it’s barely over the 100mph mark in the traps. For 5 whole seconds you accelerate then spend the rest of the time coasting down the track. Sounds amazing!! Well done Ford. 😂
