I always find that hemi head’s have shit valve guides. The later years are worse than the earlier years, the geometry is wrong especially on the exhaust side and it’s only exaggerated when the motor get a cam. I’ve seen many stock valves on hemi’s where the tip’s are almost knocked off of them and extremely chewed up. I know it’s a cheap material problem too but I still think the geometry is just plain wrong. I always switch to bronze valve guides when installing stainless valves, SBI often times don’t have them though and if the customer is in a hurry then I at the bare minimum install a hardened cast. It’ll help those guides live a hell of a lot longer. Never been a big fan of these new Chrysler’s, problem after problem from a piss poor design out the door but hey I’m no engineer. I guess they built them for a good time, not a long time.
