I thought Sonos was the best surround system until I listened to a set of Klipsch speakers. Then I returned the Sonos Arc, Sub, and two Era 300. The I built 5.1.4 surround system with Klipsch speakers and Onkyo RZ50 for less than what Sonos costs.

Yes worth it. Coming from towers and bookshelf surrounds and giant 12 inch Klipsch, I am extremely happy with the purchase

I've just taken delivery of Arc, Sub, 2x Era 300 and Port. This is to replace the existing older Sonos soundbar, Sub and Play 1's (and Connect). We're upgrading the TV to something bigger too so I'll have a complete "old" system to install somewhere else on the property. Atmos was the key driver for me and it's going to be interesting .. for audio only I tend to play music through the Devialet Phantoms at the moment but they may spend their time simply playing vinyl if the new Sonos gear is as good as it's hyped to be.

Very informative as always. I have the Arc with 100 series surrounds and I don't need more bass so no subwoofer required. Based on your review I now want the 300s but agree that they are expensive.

Something to note is that building a proper surround system yourself would cost at least the same as this Sonos setup, plus the headaches that come with troubleshooting and tuning a system. BUT, one thing that worries me with Sonos is the longevity of the system when it comes to updates and such. I know they're working on this but... 🤔

I went with the original Ultimate (Sonos) Home Audio Experience with the Arc, dual Gen 3 subs, and Fives as rear surrounds a year ago. I really haven't had any regrets, zero app/hardware issues, and no sound quality issues with each and every update. I really enjoy the listening experiences with anything from music, cable, and streaming content w/ or w/o Atmos.

Not sure how the Arc/sub(s)/300s sound compared to the Arc/sub/fives with non-Atmos content? I'm only seeing about 20%-30% of the content I watch on Xfinity cable and streaming services in Atmos format (mostly 5.1)? I don't listen to 3D audio.

Hoping for either an upgraded Arc next year or rear speakers for the Sennheiser's Ambeo plus.

I have had my Sonos system for a year or two now and absolutely love it overall. I currently have the Arc, Sub and two of the ONE SL for my rears. Is it worth the price to change from the SL's to the new Era 300? I use the system daily for movies and gaming.

I have the same setup with the 300s as rears and I wasn’t super impressed as I used to have the fives as rears in the past and those had a really wide sound stage as well and I don’t really notice the atmos effects That much. BUT sony just released dolby atmos for the ps5 and I’ve been playing Spiderman 2 which is the first ps5 game to have a full Dolby atmos mix. And MAAAN! It sounds incredible and I definitely hear sound all around me and on top of me, when you swing under helicopters or action is happing all around you it sounds incredible, this is the first time I’ve ever felt like I was inside a sound bubble, If you’re a gamer I have this system I recommend the new Spiderman game, it takes full advantage of Dolby atmos, other ps5 games I recommend putting them on DTS if you have Sonos, I’m excited for the future of gaming if they’re going to start including atmos on more games!

What you are saying about TrueSound tuning not being available when the era 300's are in a surround setup is kinda true, but if you use TrueSound tuning before you pair them, they remember those settings when you pair them or put them in a surround setup, so the sound distribution is still optimized for the room.

Not for me. It's really expensive for what you get and it STILL does not support DTS HD and DTS: X, only lossy regular DTS audio. I'd much rather go with a Samsung Q990C, a Sony HT-A7000 with SW5 subwoofer and RS5 rear speakers, or anything from Nakamichi as they are all far less expensive (barring the Dragon system at nearly $4000!), they support all DTS audio formats, presumably sound just as good and have 2 or 3 HDMI ins.

Is the 300 worth the upgrade from the 100 SL’s ?
