NRSV-CE Illustrated Cowhide - Catholic Bible Press

Catholic Bible Press, a division of Harper Collins Christian has really taken an interest in improving the quality of Catholic Bibles. While I’m not Catholic, and it’s safe to say, there are some pretty significant disagreements between Protestant and Catholics, I think it is still important to work toward understanding. This is why I choose to expand beyond Protestant traditions.

Structurally speaking, this is the best Catholic Bible I have seen to date. It would be really nice to see them produce this in a full premium. However, the cowhide over board, and nice paper make this one stand tall and beautiful. It has 513 images dispersed throughout it. Some of them have been moved to spread them out better.

One thing to point out is that it has a nice 9.5 font in the Catholic Comfort Print. Check out this short video to get a better look. Link below to both options.

Wow! That is a beautiful Bible. Thank you for reviewing it. It is far out of my price range, but I enjoyed looking at it.
I wish they would have put antique-looking maps in the back. I think that would have matched the style a lot better. The modern maps seem out of place.

I put the softcover on pre-order, but I'm still eagerly waiting for it. 🙂

I considered getting the premium leather one, but I just can't bring myself to purchase real leather products anymore given the realities of modern industrial agriculture. I really wouldn't mind paying for quality, though.

What is it with leather over hardcover??? Are Catholic Bible publishers afraid of leather editions? Also, as is the presenter, no cup of tea for me is the NRSV-CE. Perhaps copyright hinders the publisher from other versions.
It seems this edition has lots of space on page edges. Could have expanded the text (font size looks tiny for such a large edition), brought it closer to the end of the pages.

Nice looking Bible. Its a pity the NRSV uses gender neutral language which I find so unnecessary and irritating - otherwise I would have added this translation to my collection.
