Just outside Ocho Rios, The Jamaica Inn serves up old-world charm (with a few scruffy edges), flaunting its colonial past like a proud peacock amidst the technicolor bling of the ocean and gardens surrounding the place. This historic hotel sets its own pace, subtly insisting that time moves slower here, and for all the right reasons. The beach, oh the beach, is one of the best - if not the best - resort beaches in Jamaica.... that's saying a lot. We could have done without the plastic beach loungers though … (yes we’re picky).

The rooms themselves can feel a bit tired, but come here for each room’s fabulous veranda, each as big, and even more nicely furnished, than the room itself. Save the room for sleeping. From the intimate garden suites surrounded by tropical gardens to the beachfront bungalows with great Caribbean views - there’s a large variety of rooms to choose from. We recommended the beach wing for the best experience.
In terms of food, you have the option of the also tired open-air dining terrace serving fresh island produce, but our fave is the laid-back beach barbecue joint with its toe-in-the-sand allure.

The Swank Guide's recommending this place because of its loyal following - it sure wasn't our favorite Jamaica resort. This place isn't for everyone - especially if you like more modern designs like we do… but beyond the very good service, and nice rooms, it's the vibe of Jamaica Inn that’s special. Think sophistication without pretense, relaxation without inertia, and luxury without ostentation. Currently staying here and almost opted in for the beach wing like this video suggested. Thankfully we got the oceanview suite and we are very happy about it. Yes it does face the Sandals resort, but that does not take away from the privacy or having a stunning, full sunset view from our room, right on the ocean filled with colourful fish.

The staff have been friendly and attentive and the beach is incredibly well kept. It really is a quiet oasis for those looking for a chill vacation.

Most true Jamaican hotels underwhelm most people on arrival, but I wouldn't stay anywhere else, down to earth guests and owners. No entitled guests like the sandals where people can pretend to be anybody. That's the difference, plus the bed is for rest and sleep, shower and change, you'll be out all day and night, so get over yourselves and enjoy your holiday. 😊 I usually stay in Negril at Traveller's Beach Resort a family owned business on 7 mile of beach, you can walk that beach day and night, live bands great food, and walk to town, or the West End and discover more restaurants as you make you're way to Rick's Cafe for the best sunset in Jamaica just beautiful like my second home .😊

I love jamaica inn. I too was very underwhelmed by the rooms initially. But there is something about the lively peace that exists there….it keeps me going back. I haven’t found anywhere else like it. I’ve stayed in all the room categories except beach/west wing. I love it there, even though it is expensive so I keep going back 😅. It’s an addiction.
