I love this video and the series idea SO MUCH! You're an incredible human and video maker and this was exactly what I needed to help my eco panic. Looking forward to watching the rest x

I'm proud of myself for actually clicking on this as the discussion of climate change massively triggers my anxiety disorder. However, I'm really glad I did, as I've always been in the camp of "it's too late so I'm going to stick my head in the sand and ignore it". But you're right. It's not too late. I'm also glad you brought up the thing about the 100 companies that are the problem because I feel like so many discussions about climate change end up being about ordinary people pointing fingers at each other and blaming each other for not doing enough, when what we actually need to do is put pressure on governments to make big changes and regulate those companies that are to blame and put pressure on the companies themselves to make a change. It sounds cynical, but I'll doubt they'll change their ways out of the goodness of their hearts. Money talks, I suppose, so we need to organise and work out how we'll spend our money to force change. (Also I'm finally joining the gumption club, hooray!)

I finished my phd in solar energy last year, and sure, the solutions are not perfect, but the technology is sure good enough. Is the funding and political will that is not there yet.

Thanks for making this video. I'd love more videos on what we can do to make a real change. I generally feel a bit powerless when it comes to climate change.

one thing that really gets to me about climate change is the narrative that our grandchildren won’t have a life that is recognisable to us. although this is true and very scary, i wish the current discussions about climate change also face up to the realities climate-related disasters occurring today, affecting the most vulnerable people in our world. for example rising sea levels means people living in pacific islands e.g. Kiribati are having to relocate their homes that have been in the family for generations. the islanders are passionate about campaigning for action, yet Kiribati as a state has contributed such a negligible amount towards global carbon emissions.

the people/countries that are least responsible for climate change are the most vulnerable to it. we will be fine. the UK (as an MEDC) will be fine. the millions of people who are being displaced right now and the predicted 1 billion climate refugees by 2050 will not 😣.

"The adults aren't sorting it! And also I think we might be the adults now" There were many scary/shocking facts in this but this one should not have been as hard hitting as it was for me😂 Great video, can't wait to see more 🙌

Excellent video! Neoliberalism has led us to believe that the solutions lie in our individual consumer choices but the climate crisis cannot be solved with capitalism.

Novara Media did a podcast with founders of the 'Labour for a Green New Deal' campaign - would thoroughly recommend listening to it. There's also a Novara Media interview with Asad Rehman on their youtube channel. He discusses climate justice and how climate change has been depoliticised by previous environmental movements.

If you're a student who is interested in climate justice activism, there are dozens of organisations that support grassroots student activism e.g. People & Planet. Many SU's have a P&P or fossil free society campaigning for their university to stop investing in fossil fuels. Activism is a great thing to get involved in if you feel like an insignificant individual in the face of this huge issue!

hello leena. I watched you on the YouTube creator channel. I really admire you because you speak very well and straightforwardly and another good thing is that your straightness does not make the audience hate you. that will understand you better . love you !!

Love how you are using your platform to voice these issues! Positive panic is such a refreshing way to look at eco-anxiety >.< yes we need to freak out, but not into non-action but steady active advocacy 🧡

First time commenter here! I'm an environmental engineer and I am going to have to choose my first job very very soon, and part of what makes me panic is the fact that there are so many aspects of climate change and human-based destruction. I want to make a difference, and I want to work for mitigating or at least adapting to the change, but I don't know how to start. I am currently doing an internship about waste treatment, which is a huge topic, but I'm already soooo freaked out because we shouldn't have so much waste in the first place, and we shouldn't have to incinerate and by doing so, release more Co2 and other polluants in the atmosphere, but we do now. And it's frightening.
I guess my point is that I'm very curious to see if your series can help me feel better about my field choice when I have to make it (which I should really work on now). Thanks for caring and daring to make a change.
If you want an interesting book, I really love this one : what we think about when we try not to think about climate change (per espen stones). It's about how we should speak about climate change to adapt to the psychology of people.

I struggle with conversations around climate change because plastic usage is usually one of the first things that comes up and in my experience those conversations can get very ableist very quickly. Thank you for speaking in such a positive way and not just going on about banning straws x

This video is amazing! I've been in a constant internal battle between "I'm not doing enough to change my personal lifestyle" and "changing my personal lifestyle will have very little (if any) effect", so thanks for this!

After working in climate change organisations for about 2, 5 years (first volunteering and work experience), I had to take a break for my mental health. It's been nearly 5 years now and the break has become my life as I still don't know how to care so much and not be overwhelmed by the magnitude of the problem. I tend to shy away from videos on the subject, but I'm so glad I clicked on yours. It was the perfect balance between panic and positive and made me want even more to find my way back into action. So, thank you <3 I'm gonna watch the rest of the series now :)
