The Best Way To 'Default Off' The Auto Start Stop on Ford F150 Trucks Without Eliminating Functions

The Two Best devices to allow you to Default Off on the Ford F150 Auto Start Stop System without programming, risk of the warranty being denied, or other weird quirks are:

Here are the reasons I do NOT think FORScan is right for this application:
- Changing parameters could result in repairs not being covered under warranty.
- Auto start-stop functionality is removed
- FORScan leaves a worthless decoy button on your dash.
- With FORScan, the battery management system is turned off.

I am a HUGE fan of the Version 2 diagnostic port solution that must remain plugged into the OBDII port, but it should be noted that it does use power 100% of the time. However, this unit uses so little power that it will not affect battery life if sitting. This is by far the easiest to install and remove. As we noted, one of the most popular solutions on the GM side is a device by Range Technologies. That device will completely kill a battery in about a week if it isn't started.

The first link, or wired solution, shuts down completely when the vehicle goes to sleep. It literally uses no power while the truck is off because there isn't any power running to the device. This wiring system disables the auto start/stop the way Ford intended, via the auto start/stop disable button. That's why you won't have any negative side-effects.

The best option should be a factory setting of being able to do that very thing. As the vehicle owner, I think it should be up to them to decide how they want the vehicle to perform. I know, we apparently aren't worthy of doing that in the opinion of the powers to be but should.

Hey there, I loved your thorough approach here. I agree on staying away from the more invasive methods. I personally am leaning toward the Start stop eliminator that wires into the switch circuit. Thanks for your video....

Just got a new 2020 Raptor, thought they would have dropped this system. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!

Our Start Stop Eliminator goes into a ultra low power "Sleep" mode when the vehicle is turned off and only wakes up when the other electronic modules wake up. Power draw will never be an issue, even when the vehicle is stored for long periods of time.

I have the Autostop Eliminator in my 2019 Edge ST since I bought it in late 2019. It is perfect. I highly recommend the produce.

First, coaching people on how to communicate, awesome! People hide behind their technology and have forgotten how to respectfully communicate. Wonderful that you realize this is controversial and so you set up the conversation. Two, thank you for the information. I’m not sure I could purchase any new car, just too many nannies for me so it is good to see there are safe work a rounds that frankly are good for many many reasons but not for everyone. Love your channel has climbed to the top of my list😎 S

I own a 2020 Ford Ranger. To disable the Auto Start Stop function all I need to do is plug a small LED night light (110 volt) into the 110-volt outlet on the rear of the center console. Note that the Auto Start Stop function is not enabled IF an electrical accessory is turned on or plugged in. This is mentioned on page 145 in 2020 Ford Ranger Owner's Manual. This should work for other Ford SUV and pickup trucks as well. This guy is trying to make money like the salespersons promoting cookware on TV. He always praises all products from different companies despites of what. What the hell?

Great video that covered viable options. I ordered the harness from your link.

Good presentation, and I'm glad you didn't promote some of the bad solutions that are common on the internet. I suggest everyone who wants to defeat the system use one of the products you showed, which will keep all the other systems working as designed. Messing with modern vehicles electronics is a good way to screw up multiple systems. They are much too complex for the average owner to mess with. Yes, those solutions are expensive for what they are, but all the other cheap fixes are no where near as good.

I just unplug the black wire under the dash that plugs into white box. The one that controls my trailer lights. Whenever I hook up my trailer I plug it back in.

Thanks for the video!! START/STOP does NOT save gas (much)!! It takes MORE fuel to start a gasoline engine than to run it for a short while. Way back when I was a teen, it took 2 minutes of fuel to restart a car. With better efficiency engines, I'm sure that time has shortened, BUT it ain't ZERO! So, there is no benefit. The engine DOES turn off in the heat, so no AC in SE La is NOT a smart move. Also, about the "powers that be"- The car is YOURS. YOU bought it. You can do what you want with it, as long as it is legal. Are you responsible for making sure that what you do will not harm the car? Yes! So, do your homework first. Starting and restarting your car puts a lot of wear and tear on your engine. This causes the need for expensive engine repair. So much for the "powers that be". 😊

On my 2018 F150 I just unplugged the wire to my negative battery post. Open the hood and find the battery. On the negative battery post are two tiny wires one red and one purple with a single plug that plugs into a sealed electrical component that is mounted on the wires attaching to the negative battery post. If it takes more than a minute from the time you pull the hood release, your doing something wrong.

Surely you still need the engine running for aircon to turn the compressor? Here in Europe the manufacturers love these Start-Stop devices - I always disable it on my friend's Land Rover - we have an extra issue. We have a lot of turbo diesels and if you want a turbo to live a long time you should let it idle for 30 seconds at start-up and before shutting off the engine (called simmering) to ensure cooler oil reaches the turbo bearings. Stop-Starts don't always alklow this leading to premature turbo failure.

The one that you plug in behind the switch is just a latching toggle-switch type electronic gate that does the same thing as shorting the wires. If you’re comfortable with your abilities you can just put a toggle switch in its place. I’d probably put an appropriately sized fuse in line too just to be safe.

Call me cheap but $100 is a bit expensive for this hardware. I went with the free option of unplugging the black connecter (bottom one of 3) on the box just under the steering wheel. The only downside of this is that it removes the power to the tow lights, but for a guy like me who might tow something once every 2 years, I can just plug it back in for the trip.

All you gotta do is unplug the wire with the grey plug by the driver side left knee foot area. Free and done ! 2seconds

Well I must be weird because I have an F150 2015 Platinum that stickered over $50, 000.and it has every conceivable option on it except start/stop.I go to Florida for the winter and some of their traffic lights are literally 5 minutes long.Thats a lot of wasted gas.My last F150 came with it and I got used to it for that reason..I would gladly trade for s/s and get rid of the lane change alert that grabs your steering wheel unless you stay perfectly between the hi way lines.Or the second option I detest is adaptive speed control [cruise].I just want to drive my truck the way I have been doing for yrs. and not how some engineer decided how you will pilot your vehicle .I dont understand why people are waiting for self driving cars.We wont be in control but just get in and sit and be driven as if we re on a streetcar...

If someone would just manufacture an identical switch, but not make it a momentary switch, make it latching switch.
