I'm Polish and there are some crazy people who drink spirytus rektyfikowany as a medicine. I also tasted it once and it's almost undrinkable

Some of these percentages seem a bit off to me, since ethanol forms an azeotrope with water at 95, 63 % and can't be separated further by distillation alone. It is close to impossible for any spirit to go this high or even higher.

Little word of advice: be very careful when drinking "old grand dad 114 bourbon". Sure, it's only 57% alcohol, nothing you can't handle right? Well, when you're clutching the toilet at 12am vomiting and can't sleep because it feels like you will die if you fall asleep, then you'll find out that strong alcohol is nothing to be messed with.

When I was living in dorm, we used to drink frozen rectified spirit. Vodka was too diluted for us. Yes.. this was in Poland ;-P

Spirytus is ideal for making your own alcohol. Most homemade alcohol in Poland (e.g. some kind of liqueur, nalewka, or similar things) is made by adding spiritus to liquid.

The advantage is that you can make alcohol with almost everything, which is for example ~60% alcohol. The magic is when you don't feel the alcohol because there is a lot of sugar in such a liqueur, but you drink 3-4 glasses and you feel the fun in your head.

I got 2 Centerbe bottles, one not even opened and one is empty. There is a myth in my home that once you drink one you'll have to buy milk as soon as possible and return home after 40 years

Fun fact : you will never find a nalewka that's less than 75%. Most people make it by mixing spirit and some juice and a ton of sugar.

Arak whick as I know other name of Raki. Raki consumed mostly in Turkey, Greece and Thrace countries. I don't know much about Greek version but Turkish version contains %45 alcohol and the you consume it mixing it with water. In raw form raki look like a vodka, colorless. Water mixage gives it the iconic whiteish color. It means that the final consumable raki contains less than %45 alcohol
