10 years ago people would get on this bike and enjoy it. Today we look for faults and are too critical.

Yesterday we went to look at either a GT or GX and first thing we noticed whilst sat on the bike is the passenger grab handles are ‘behind you’ .. not a comfortable way to sit, especially if using the bike for touring and long mileage days ( isn’t that why people buy bikes with panniers?) .. so we’re off to look at a S1000XS as bmw usually consider two up riding as normal, maybe on bike launches you guys should also try it with someone on the back too 🤷🏻‍♂️

Best final summary I have ever seen! And ive watched a few. Many years of professional experience showing through. Great that you mention the other contenders and what they do and dont bring to the party. Tracer/ Xr - the vibes, the screen, the exhaust - the fact that manufacturers expect that you're going to change it all anyway. You said what needed saying about all of that. Brilliant 👏 Best review I've ever seen. I'll have a pint of what you're having 😄

Excellent review Mr. Hargreaves. I have a very good sense of what this bike is about after watching this. As a former Versys owner and having tried some of the other comparable bikes, your compare and contrast style really nailed the context to consider this bike under. Myself I wanted something more sporty so switched my Versys for a Ninja SX1000. Would have gone for the Suzuki GT but my shallow aesthetic preference prevents me having a winky headlight set up. 😉

I must say I think this is one of the best bike reviews I’ve watched, clearly did his homework and knows what he’s talking about. Great work 👍

Gawd.
I didn't fo well at science at school. Too much, my head hurts.
I just like turning the key, and going.
But, I like it and would probably leave everything alone once set.
Ride safe and happy travels 👍

I love these kind of reviews, let me know the reviewer is a clueless tech enthusiast and couldn’t care less about riding. If he doesn’t like the bike, I will.

Interesting review and comparisons, thanks you.I had a look at this at Motorcycle Live in the UK. I spoke to one of the Suzuki staff on the stand about top boxes(cases). He checked with his boss and confirmed to me that there would be no factory option but fitting an aftermarket option wouldn’t invalidate your warranty. No doubt the usual suppliers will have kits for fitting their top boxes. It’s in a competitive market, I hope it pushes Team Green to update their Versys 1000.

I have an active cruise control in my car but I haven’t used one on a bike integrated with a quick up/down quick shift. Amazing it’s even available. I’d have to buy the bike just to see what that’s like.
No top box is very bad- I have one on my current bike- indispensable re a secure place to store my helmet and shopping.
Great review, love listening to you rabbit on - you make a lot of sense. I’d go for the Yamaha Tracer 9 GT with the top box, centre stand, heated grips and radar.

"Suzuki is incredibly clumsy. So much effort is put into the sales campaign, and then we watch a drive that doesn't exceed 50 miles per hour, with an engine that has 150hp." Seamos breaks are not good?

At 14:46 take the left, take the next left (like making a U-turn on that road), then proceed until you find a Yamaha dealer on the right :D ( no, seriously it is there).
OK, enough fooling around. I can't wait to try this one. Feels like it would be a great choice for me and the missus plus I love its design and the green one... I hope is looks just as good live.

No top box seems a bit…naff for what is supposed to be a proper tourer. I’m more likely to want to carry some things or have a backrest for the pillion than want to go over 120 mph to be honest.

Good, honest review this. Well done Simon.

Thanks Simon good first impressions!

One thing you didn't mention that I'm curious about- lower body comfort in. knee and hip angle. From the diagram briefly shown it seems like it's almost the same as the GT. how did it feel?
