Thank you, Paul.
You're right, the BP #6 handle with a #25 blade is the best all around modelling knife. I've been using it for about 45 years, and like you, I never cut myself.
The average modeler should be aware though, that these knives are a lot sharper than X-Acto type blades and one should use logic and caution when handling them.

Just started watching your videos - Fantastic and a wealth of information!
My wife's a Dentist, so got her to order the handle and blades for me. Ordered two of the Norton FB24 sharpening stones from the U.S. (I'm in Canada).
Looking forward to watching your other videos.

So much to learn !
Im sure all these tips make a helluva difference on the models at the exhibition tables..
The making of videos like these, are not easy or cheap to produce.
Thanks for taking the effort to share them here...best wishes

The biggest gripes in have with the standard x-acto or excel knives is the blade colet constantly unscrews while in use. That and they tend to roll on the bench. I'm grabbing one of these plastic handles to try out.

I use a standard stainless steel handle with a custom made handle made by a hot glue gun. roughen up the handle with coarse grit sand paper and then using the hot glue gun fashion your custom handle ( REMEMBER the glue is friggin HOT ) as it cools put your hand into cold water then grab the handle to pressing the glue to the shape you want just be careful and DON'T burn yourself. Either that or get a picture of the custom handles and scale it then fabricate it. Great videos by the way.

In the UK, Swann Morton offer a blade very similar shape handle. which fits their range of blades including 25a and also 26, which has a similar profile to exacto 1

Thanks. This got me looking for a better handle than the uncomfortable Xacto. After only one or two reviews on this handle. A couple very good, one review very so-so, decided to buy an acrylic handle Swann Morton 6a instead. Not small and round like Xacto. Takes same size blades as this one. Flattish profile that indexes well in-hand too. Wasn't willing to pay $28 for this one based on a couple good reviews. $10 instead for the nice large flattish craft-knife style Swann Morton. This B.P. may be pretty nice, but they're going for triple the average so no-go for taking a chance. If I used them more frequently...………..maybe

Doc, I sure do enjoy watching your tutorials.
P.S. My friend and next door neighbor is working on his F-86L and has the aircraft split apart with engine out on a stand. Let me know if you need any pictures of any part of aircraft.

Hi, just want to say Ive learnt so much from your great videos. There so well thought out and made.Making the information given a pleasure to watch.Ive put into practice some of the ideas you’ve shown. As well of increasing my tool and materials and found good improvement in my modeling.👍👍👍
I wonder if you would consider making a video on which type of tweezers and gripping tools you find the best.I ask as I have a couple of ‘old faithful’, pairs of tweezers. But I would like your thoughts and recommendations on this subject.Hope you don’t mind me asking.!

Since I worked for 20 years in a Hospital Supply Company, I had access to B-P Blades and Handles. A word to the wise, as I used to tell the people that I gave blades to: These things are SHARP! Where cutting with a X-Acto knife/blade: The X-Acto will cut your finger---The Surgical Blade will cut the finger OFF! Watch what you are doing and be CAREFUL.
