In today’s video, we introduce the process of replacing the LCD screen on the Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra Resin 3D printer. We know that many users are struggling with this process, so we created this guide to help.

If you’re a beginner, we recommend following this method to replace the LCD screen and be sure to keep the following points in mind:
• Screw Classification: There will be many different types of screws during this process. To avoid mixing them up or losing any, you’ll need at least 8 pots to organize them.
• Protect the Frenzel Lens: Try to avoid scratches and be careful not to damage it while tightening the screws.
• Give yourself enough time to do it.

Lastly, we would like to remind you that if you are a beginner, it is best to choose a method with lower risk.

▶ What‘s Your Need:

OK, I just re-watched this video, and put some thought into it for you, and eliminated 80% of the work and time. If you're removing the screen because it's end of life anyway, you don't have to worry about damaging it, you just have to do the following (after powering down the machine and unplugging it!):

1: Remove the 7 screws from the back panel and remove it.
2: Unplug the LCD ribbon from the board.
3: Remove the tape around the screen.
4: Use a spudger or suction cup to pull up on the screen, while providing some support to the tilt frame to prevent excess upward strain on it.
5: Remove the old adhesive and add new adhesive strips.
6: Feed cable down through the top slot, making sure it drops behind the UV shroud, not into it (with the extension attached)
7: Seat the screen, and apply even pressure all the way around to make contact with adhesive, then add the new black tape around it.
8: Plug the LCD ribbon back into the board, while making sure nothing catches on moving parts or the UV shroud.
9: Replace the back panel with the 7 screws. Done.

I don't understand all the extra steps, they aren't needed.

Plus, this method eliminates other potential issues such as losing screws, using the wrong screws in the wrong places (as you stated, some are different), over tightening the screws on the fresnel lens thus cracking it and finally, not damaging other systems by unplugging cables that don't need to be unplugged.
If I've missed something here, please tell me.

I love this printer, but damn, to have to literally disassemble nearly the ENTIRE machine to change a consumable like the LCD is ridiculous. I'm thinking a wee bit more thought could have been put into that.

This video is the most passive aggressive way of telling someone to replace their printer

Followed your video to change my screen - took me about 3 hours, but the video was clear for most of the time. Tips for anyone trying to do this :
1. If you aren't used to these very thin ribbon cables - the black bar across them is hinged and flips down - there is a small nail recess you can used to pull it forward - took me ages to realise this is what you needed to do.
2. Have at least 8 pots to put all the screws in and label the pot with which panel they relate to - makes things a lot easier when putting it all back together
3. Glue used to hold the screen in place is tough - I needed to get a heat gun on it to soften it up - would not have been able to push the screen out as the video suggests
4. Be REALLY careful when moving the frenzel lens - it scratches very easily so take you time to carefully move it around the frame as you remove it and put it back
All in all there should be an easier way to replace the screen, but it is what it is, so if you need to do it, give your self the time to do it methodically.

Hey you missed the part where all those cables are hot glued in...🙂 Thanks though

U guys taking the piss? A lcd screen is a consumable. You shouldn’t have to disassemble the whole printer to replace it.
Not buying it now.
Next release. Can you streamline it?

I'm sorry. But what makes you think that this procedure is okay for switching a consumable part of the printer? I was going to buy a Saturn 4 Ultra on Black Friday, but this is unacceptable. I would have to treat the whole printer as a consumable and throw it away once the screen died, I do not have the kinds of skills to perform this procedure. Very disappointed since it was so easy on the Mars 2 Pro.

I am honestly baffled that THIS is the "official instruction" for how to replace the LCD screen. Pulsefired Gaming has a video from Oct of '24 that shows how to replace the LCD screen in just, like, 20 minutes (if you're handy).

I've worked with a whole bunch of different resin printers, and this has to be the worst I've ever used Being forced to disassemble 90% of the printer, including tampering with multiple wires, and using over 8 or 9 different types of screws (which you must remember exactly where they go! - which not even this tutorial demonstrates.) along with multiple sized Allan keys, you'll constantly be switching.

Unfortunately I bought this printer over my usual Anycubic brand, and after five months of little usage, the screen had already got damaged.

I'll be buying a better printer elsewhere, even with the great specs of this printer. (The down time for maintenance is ludicrous!) As soon as my new screen fails, I'll be replacing this whole printer, not the LCD screen.

In the middle of this process now. I’ve only had the printer for 6 months and screen already dead. Unfortunately it was 20 days past warranty. I will not do this again if the 2nd screen dies. This is insane. I will go back to my Anycubics.

There is no need to unscrew or disassemble anything! Simply remove the tape from the top of the screen then pry the screen off with a flat head screwdriver at the front two corners where there are small recesses (doesn't matter that you damage the old screen slightly as this is the part you are replacing). Then follow the instructions starting at 6:24 and you're good to go!

Before closing up the machine, I'd suggest powering it on to confirm everything works LOL.

Was about to buy the 16k as an upgrade from my Anycubic Photon M3 but after watching this I think I’ll look elsewhere. I have the tech skills to do this but I don’t want to spend the time. I’m spending 400+, I expect replacing consumable parts be engineered more efficiently for replacements.

My screen was factory defective. So they sent me a replacement.
This is Not a user friendly experience.

What their instructional video doesn't tell you:
A, the factory installed screen is epoxied in place. You have to force it out. Then chisel the remaining glue and glass out of the metal frame with a chisel tip hobby knife.
B, all the cables inside the case are hot glued to the motherboard, often into the wires. Be VERY careful when loosening the hot glue. As you don't want to break a wire.
C, buy a set of proper hex head screwdrivers to make this a little easier.

Im sitting here, watching the video then opening up the back panel. Why is there hot glue drops on nearly all connectors?! Im supposed to disconnect the camera cable, but how should I do that while it's hot glued to the connector?!
Taking pictures of everything and work as carefully as I can, but that's definitely another email to the support team...

This guy must get paid by the hour. All you have to do is remove the back panel, disconnect a cable ribbon, pry off the old screen, clean off the adhesive tape, insert and connect the ribbon through the top, connect the ribbon cable to the new screen the place the new screen and finally replace the back panel. It literally took 10 minutes.

I got my Saturn 4 ultra when it came out. the screen didn't last 8 months and just long enough to not be covered. I just replaced a screen for an old Saturn 2 which was a bit complex but man, this was a lot. But after getting it all put back together, it wouldn't power on. no beep, no screen, just dead. I spent hours installing the screen and this time nothing.

oh and this screen break was the oddest. it was liquid in the center. when printing I would get holes. They said it was the screen. But now, unless I can get it working I'm out a machine and I spent a lot of time doing it.

If these are considered disposable or replaceable I think Elegoo needs to make it easier to replace.

The only reason you have to take the whole thing apart is because they use 100 mph tape to hold the screen in. Use less sticky double sided tape and you should be able to pry the screen out without total disassembly.

This is a wild repait video. Is this really the intended process for swapping this guy out?
