I need a temporary repair to see me through the winter as the post just started wobbling badly this week .I can’t get the tradesmen and it’s really not the weather IMO to do a new post .I have bought the post buddy system and going to install next week, or try🙏🏻. Your video has given me some confidence. Thanks!. Last year I repaired my other post with a concrete spur and digging out the old concrete nearly did me in. That post is literally immovable now.

Honestly best thing to do here is dig down a bit as shown, cut the post just below the rot (they always rot at the ground level) pre pilot drill drive in an anchor bolt 150- 200mm long with a chain attached & pull out the old post using a lever & car jack set up! nice & easy then slot in new post done lots like this. That metal brace is pointless & a waste of materials & time.

I’m guessing this only works if the issue is the post and not if there’s a problem with the concrete underground?

I saw another YouTube video about deck support beams with rotted bottoms and a guy came up with an interesting idea. I believe his posts were 4x4s. So he used 2x6s and cut them to length from the top of the post down to where the cement begins. And he just bolted them around the posts creating a sleeve. The 2x6s were also sitting on concrete and at the top were providing support to the horizontal beam. So I guess it was a legit fix. I don't see why the same thing wouldn't work with a fence post

I have a wide strong notched post and noticed it’s snapped at ground level, would these work on this as it’s a complete nightmare to remove post cos all the slats!

I'm going to use a channel post (U post) to reinforce an intact but rotted wooden post. This will buy me years to either place additional channel posts and or bury the wood rot with concrete.

Concrete post spur is the solution with some elbow grease & tools. Post buddy system waste of time...till you hit Concrete after 4 inches in the ground.

As a fencing contractor I have to say this is absolutely not the way to fix your fence.Take the post out and replace it with a new one and don't waste your money on this rubbish idea.

If the post is rotted below ground, then this wouldn't work

This looks like a tremendous waste of money and time. Literally thousands of better ways to repair this fence than doing this. I definitely would try a few other things first...🤔
