I buy them often and have multiple for each member of my family. Each bucket last one person 8 days so thats how ilook at it. I also add several bags of dry beans 8nto each kit for a good source of protein. You also have to take into consideration the weight factor the augason farms kit only weighs 5 lbs were as the food storage in the bucket is probably more like 15 lbs. makes transportation a little more difficult.

For 20 bucks you can go to aldi, get 30 canned veggies, several cans of chicken, chili, etc.. “protein foods” and get through a couple weeks with rationing.... canned good last nearly indefinitely. You don’t have to cook any of it, which eliminates the most common problem with preppers, they tend to pack a lot of food, but don’t consider the amount of cooking and water needed long term.

The one for $20 will last 30 years and you just add water also.. Cold or hot water.. The beans you have will take a ton of clean water and then you have the hrs of cooking just the beans itself.. The walmart 48 hr kit is way better.. And you can't call Vienna sausages luxury, when all it is a scraps... and how do you plan on preparing that flour or even using it for when you didn't add salt and pepper to the bucket.. I don't think I would want to open up a 30 year old can of Vienna sausages and eating it.. or you just might come down with botulism.. Can food needs to be rotated, especially something high in acid like tomato sauce or chili beans.. Although and can of spam cost more than Prime Steak if you calculated by a pound.. I've never understood why they called it poor man's food..

Not including time, water, flavor, storage. These guys always try to say “oh well we can do a better” version. But don’t tell you that you’re going to be eating bland rice and beans. If you have the money buy the (READY TO GO) bucket. If you’re on a budget make your own.

What is the shelf life of your bucket haul. You said the Auguson Farms is 20 years. Mine says 20-50 years depending upon the temperature you store it. I actually have about twenty 5 gallon buckets of food I put away about 10 years ago in mylar bags with oxygen absorbers. I noticed that some of the flour didn't taste very good. It was stale, but some was still good. I just bought 5 of the Auguson Farms $20 buckets.

All that is in that bucket is low protein. You have to have protein in order to keep your strength up.

You can't even buy a decent protein or meal replacement bar for less than $5. Mres are $25 for one day of garbage. What about all the water one will need to clean and cook beans, rice and pasta? Oil, salt and pepper? Not to mention a lot of cooking fuel. The $20 box is better. Heat and serve. Reserve water for drinking😀

Light a tea candle and put it in the bucket before you close it. The flame will consume most of the remaining oxygen and will self extinguish. Also, don't put flour and sugar in your bucket. Not a good idea! Just beans and rice and seal a mylar bag with seasoning and spices.

I was about to rip into your video. But, then I read the comments already here. I decided to spare you my wrath out of pity.

After doing a little research I've learned that most of the stuff you bought has larvae, bugs etc. that need to be killed before storing otherwise you might get a surprise when you open a package of the dry ingredients. Dry canning might be better for the some stuff unless you're going to be eating this stuff soon.

I love the carb-heavy ''survival'' food. It is proven that protein and fat have greater energy transfer and greater satiety. you can't 'survive' on sugar and bread. sure, for a couple days but after that, you need some protein and fats to keep your brain functioning and your body from breaking down. but spiking insulun during an emergency isn't good either. Typical consumer shit that doesn't do anything that it claims to.

Wouldn't corn meal be better what the hell are you going to make with plain flour? Corn meal only takes water.
