This is a serious issue for international buyers of Amazon where shipping is immensely expensive to return items.

What annoys me the most is the fact you receive second hand stuff from Amazon that is being sold as new. I remember buying a PSP from a very well known electronics retailer "brand new", only to find it had some other persons account and wifi password on it. It also had several obvious dead pixels, which is probably why they returned it in the first place.

I work at Amazon, and I know the pain of the sellers. Entire businesses get ruined by customer returns. Please understand that Amazon does not take the losses, they pass on the losses to the sellers.

Amazon is absolutely ridiculous at this point. I’d say nearly 50% of all of my Amazon orders arrive damaged at this point. And I’ve also had instances where items were sold to me as new, and were clearly not new when I received them. Meaning it was clearly something someone had returned and Amazon had just resold it as “new”. There packing teams have also been terrible lately, to the extent where it’s clear that things have been broken or damaged because of how they packaged the item for shipping.

Amazon's system is just so much easier and convenient. But on ebay you have the advantage of actually seeing what you're going to get.

Amazon has a bad habit of reselling broken PC parts. Two weeks ago I bought a motherboard from Amazon. When it came, my first clue was that the motherboard box was not sealed. Then I found that the CPU socket cover was not in place, there were bent pins in the socket, and there was thermal compound smeared on the retention bracket. I called Amazon and they made it right, but I had to wait a full week to get another board.

I bought an used AM5 mobo listed as "perfectly working". Well the board arrived with the cpu cooler's retaining brackets reversed (the tabs were facing inside towards the cpu socket) and there were some bent pins. That was far off the "perfectly working" conditions...

The problem is that it's difficult to return them, convincing the customer service that you got a completely different item is difficult and too many returns can cause your account to be banned

This is TOTALLY the fault of Amazon. Their associates are not trained properly in inspecting returns. Associate 8/10 do not even open the boxes of items returned even if they are opened. Unless the box returned is wrecked most times associates just click the check boxes to send it on its way.

A family member had something delivered. Amazon dropped it to the wrong address. Insisted we go searching the neighborhood for it. Refused to refund it knowing it was delivered to the wrong address and only refunded when they were forced to.
They are theives who take no responsibility for their business and obligations. If you get ripped off it's your own fault.

This happens alot. There's also where someone will buy a new item and return their old one in it's place.

Amazon "allows" this due to skipping QC checks on returns and despatching. The thought behind this is quantity supersedes errors in terms of profit.
