My Swedish grandmother who was a terrible cook once boiled hard shell taco shells. It was back in the 60s or 70s when Mexican food first started being sold in the Midwest. She saw the hard tortilla shells and thought that it couldn't possibly be intended to be eaten that way. She thought it must be like uncooked pasta, so she boiled them.

I think what makes it worse is that most of these are like…almost a recipe, but instead of cooking it like normal people, they make it in a sink.

As someone who loves a good crockpot/slow cooker recipe, 6 hours on high is INSANE 💀 most pasta dishes are done in an hour and 30 to 2hrs on high. That crockpot would be fighting for its life at 6hrs— maybe even set your house on fire as an act of vengeance.

The mac and cheese one is almost kinda a recipe, except I KNOW their version is just bland watery "sauce" with a layer of cheese on top. If anyone's curious, you can cook macaroni in milk (about equal volume, a little more milk until covered) with some seasoning, and the combination of cooking down the milk + the starch from the pasta lets you skip making a bechamel sauce, which is the foundation of most home-made mac and cheese recipes. Then add freshly grated cheese and you're golden.
