Tyrannosaurus Rex: The Scariest & Most Feared Dinosaur to Walk The Earth | Dinosaur Documentary

It's almost impossible to debate - no other animal that has ever lived on this planet has the same fearsome, iconic, near legendary status as Tyrannosaurus rex - the flagship and poster child of all the dinosaurs. There are a number of reasons as to why this is. Take into account the awesome form and figure of this dinosaur, with its giant, powerful skull, towering legs, and long, tapering tail.

It was one of the largest predators of the Cretaceous - and large animals tend to be looked upon with respect and wonder regardless. Moreover, it is one of the most well-represented dinosaurs in the fossil record - almost the entire Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton is known to science, and they in turn remain a staple of must-see museum exhibitions across the world. Like all the dinosaurs, however, there was much more to this superstar than the impact it has left behind. Something that is easy to forget, given the overload of Tyrannosaurus-related exaggerations in popular culture, presumably off the back of this dinosaur's draconic appearance, is that this was not a beast of folklore and legend - it really existed.

This was a living, breathing animal that prowled the plains and forests of Cretaceous Montana sixty-six million years ago. Just like the famous dinosaurs we have explored on this channel before, Tyrannosaurus rex had its own story to tell, its own unique lifestyle, evolutionary tale and more. It is this story that we aim to unravel in today's video, in order to paint a realistic image of this universally known dinosaur.

Sit back and relax as we take you on a tour through Prehistory to explore the life and times of Tyrannosaurus rex - the tyrant lizard king.

Being a Chicago native and getting to see Sue multiple times as a young kid, I feel absolutely spoiled rotten. She's such an immaculate specimen

5:20 "their teeth were intentionally blade like..."
T-Rex is famous for not having blade like teeth. The teeth were almost round, though serrated and sharp and used to crunch bones. Most other theropods did have blade like teeth but did not crunch bones due to the risk of breaking.

Of course, like large predators today, it most certainly would have engaged in both hunting and scavenging!

I’ve always thought that some of the representation of dragons was based on discovery of dinosaur skulls by pre-historic or later people explaining their existence.

It's incredible knowing we can find evidence of a fight between 2 t-rex that happened millions of years ago.

I know that roaring T. Rexs are good entertainment. But if they were active hunters, they would have to be quiet. And nobody, but nobody, portrays these magnificent animals as quiet ambush predators. And some of the depictions of them have deep rings around the eyes, which would seemingly negate some of their vision. But for the most part this video makes good sense, even if my interest in the subject made a lot of it old news. And some of the newer paleoart is very intriguing.

It's crazy to think all my chickens in my yard are basically T Rex's running around and roaming my property

Dunno 'bout that. I had a few teachers that would've been contenders for that title. Also, thankfully, no longer roaming the Earth. Great documentary. Respect from Ireland.

This guy’s voice reminds me of someone who is softly describing how he is going to torture you to death.

I belive it was for sure an active hunter, no creature this big and with a bite force like that could had lived only on carcasses, but would eat corpses to if no other food was available, all carnivores today do this to survive, food its food no matter where it comes from. One thing its for sure, T-Rex was a sight to be hold, i think more scarier and vicious then any movie can depict.

The rockstar of all dinosaurs in the present time and I think it is safe to say, for all time.

Wow - it would have cost a fortune for the low quality AI voice on this brutal video

I think T-Rex wouldn't be above scavenging, but why would a scavenger need a bite force like that? Also Triceratops skulls and frills have been found with healed T-Rex bites and I seem to recall a Rex and Trike being found locked in combat not that long ago. Also why would you need to hunt in packs if you're a scavenger anyway? I think Horner's theory is way off the mark.

When at the end of Jurassic World movie Rexy announced her dominance, I knew T Rex were badass even back then.

To say the least a really nice mount of "Titus" is on my computers wallpaper. I can't imagine T-Rex not being endo-thermic, being cold blooded has no mechanisms for sustained long term endurance.

I believe that if they were hungry it ate anything it wanted. It’s arms I believe we’re strong enough to turn a corpse to eat. Hmm this part looks good. Again I believe that for an apex predator it was like living in a smorgasbord. Some easier foods some harder. Injuries show the harder foods and they probably learned that.
