Sony RX100 IV M4 VS RX100 III M3 Video Test
This is the Sony RX100 M4 VS M3 video comparison. Early last week, I have tested it out the RX100 M4. And I was very surprised how great the video quality was. So I’m kinda curious the quality between M4 and M3.

To be fair in the test, I have set both cameras in 1600ISO. Because the minimum ISO for S-log 2 Picture Profile is 1600 on the Mark IV. The mark III I can only go with the Neutral colour. But when I put the footage side by side, I found that the Mark III looked really soft at 1600ISO. And you get more noisy footage comparing with Mark IV too. I guess because the RX100 Mark III wasn’t design for high ISO. But I had to get the same setting for both cameras. So I had no choice. But for daily use, anything below 1600ISO, the Mark III still gives you pretty good result. So what you guys think? Which one do you think looks better?

The Mark 4 was sharper because it was shot on 4k then downscaled to 1080p, it was not a fair comparison

Since they both have identical sensors and processes its really and apples to apples comparison. What was interesting was your choice of 1600 iso in bright conditions and use of an ND

Far greater dynamic range with the mk4 and the colours are more natural, too. Very impressive. Wonderful music, where from?

Strange that the MK3 shots look smeared and soft compared to those from the MK4. Are you sure it's about the noise reduction at the test ISO and not some sort of optical defects i.e. lens, ND on your test unit?

Hey, how do you get your pictures to look like this straight out the gate? Or is it due to post processing? I have a Mark 3, and I was thinking of getting the Mark 4, but my vids don't look ANYTHING like this. What can I do, or what learning tools must I obtain to do such?

Great video.. waiting on my RX IV to arrive now.. what do you use to edit your videos with.. I have a macbook pro retina but it only has 8g of memory. i trying to decide what imac or macbook pro i will need and how much memory to edit 4k video.

I feel the M4 has a more happier feel in terms of contrast, i don't know shit about cameras but im want to start to just make videos with it as a side hobby and the M4 gives me more of a happy feeling than the M3

I own both...well I bought the M3 for me and the M2 for my husband, but I much prefer the M2 and I keep stealing it from my husband much to his annoyance because he prefers it as well ! The zoom is better on the M2 and you can add a bigger flash to it as well.

The M4 seems to have a sharper quality compared to the M3. For the price of a M4 you can probably purchase a Canon T3i and T5i combined. Still debating on M4 or Canon G7x

I have doubts about the re-coding and settings - just look at 0:44 leaves and grass, I've never seen such bad compression artifacts on the mark iii
