The tall grills worked on the cars from the 20’s and 30’s because the hood was long and thin. It doesn’t work on a modern car that’s much wider. It looks like what’s up doc. The small grills we got on the E30 and other BMW’s from the 90’s is the perfect size to me, but no bigger than what was on the E46.

What a nice use of negative space indeed to generate a new kind of recessed kidney grille inside. Sir, you nailed it! BMW, look at this!

I can only hope BMW is aware of this video and Paul. All I can say is "Paul is going in the direction where BMW should be I'm a BMW 4 series owner and if this is the direction of the new kidney grill I will stick with the early models. BMW, it's OK to admit that you need to redesign also bring Paul on board. Signed loyal BMW customer for now...

I love these videos because they highlight how someone with skill does things. Paul makes this sketching look SO easy, and that to me is sign that he's got skills. I like the design you did, Paul. I'd want it a bit more toned down in the front, but think its leaps and bounds better than what BMW managed. Keep these coming!

I don't like the "beaver teef", and I like what you did, Paul. It's much better. But I think you lost a little too much of the signature kidney grill. You sketch looks more EVO-ish to me. More like the "shark mouth". I also encourage anyone watching this to look for your recent pod cast where you and Todd speak as to why, even with almost universal condemnation, BMW still is behind this styling.

I'm one of the very few who love BMW's attempt at stretching the grille vertically again as they did long ago, but I also was a bit disappointed to see how it was applied on the 4. Love this idea and the philosophy behind it. Well thought out, and the sketch looks amazing. Great job!

To me it will be the same deal as the bangle era of BMW. They will justify it, claim it is what customers want. Then silently change the design, with out an apology.

BMW needs to buy this design RIGHT NOW. I can't even consider the 3 series anymore due to that damn grill. Actually looking for an almost new 340i of the old generation.
