This is such a terrifying statement. It shows that the shooter knew that what he was doing was wrong. He knew it was wrong enough that he spared his friend. That is the definition of horrifying.

As a Columbine survivor and a freshman to boot and someone who was in the cafeteria eating lunch with her friends, it gets me every time I see that picture and that I was 15ft from that bomb that didn't go off. I thank God everyday it was a dud. I wouldnt be here if it did! Thank you for telling such interesting stories.

Killing your parents and then throwing a party while they're dead in a room is already disturbing, but that photo gave me chills...

The second story with the kid Tyler who killed his parents before throwing a party is pretty surreal to me. He went to Port Saint Lucie high school in Florida the same years my sister did. She didn’t know him close but had seen him in school and remembers people going to said party. I later went to the same school and either nobody knew or didn’t want to talk about it. It’s just crazy to hear a story that was so close to home.

I'm 40 y/o. The Columbine school shooting happened when I was a senior in high school, and I have heard this stories numerous times, along with seeing lots of video footage. I must say, Mr Ballen, you have a knack for storytelling! I love how you pick someone's point of view in the story that is otherwise pretty insignificant. It's very engaging! The golden state killer was actually found from a genealogy website where people voluntarily submit their DNA. Once police had narrowed it down to Deangelo they staked out at his home and waited for him to throw something out that they could collect DNA from to confirm. Pretty cool

Being a survivor of a serial rapist, this story cuts deep. When the Golden State murderer was identified, it prompted me to contact authorities in another state to see if there was any resolve in my case since 1992. I found out that he murdered the next woman and is in prison with no chance of parole.

I was in 7th grade when that shooting happened. We were all sent home that day and I just remembered watching the news and I couldn't hold back my tears. Every year since then I always say a prayer for the families of all the victims.

My grandmother was in the Columbine highschool shooting she was an art teacher there and after the shooting she made a huge art project to cover up some of the bullet holes in the walls
