"She went out with absolute grace" is the absolute sweetest thing to say about that poor woman. Her smile reallly was beautifully infectious!!!!

That picture of Geraldine actually moved me to tears. Just by that smile it seems like she was such a wonderful person who didn’t deserve to go out the way she did.

I love how Geraldine wasn’t upset or angry about her situation. She did her best, wrote to loved ones & came to terms with what was going on. Bless her

Dang man, Geraldine did everything right. Stayed where she was the whole time to keep herself as close to the trail as possible, put up a reflective banner, made a smoke signal. Saved her phones battery. She really was a smart, capable lady and she did indeed leave us with absolute grace.

Geraldine's story is so sad. I agree that her smile is infectious. ❤

I remember watching a TV special about the Grizzly Man when I was a kid. It is so tragic, but it also absolutely STUNS me that they would be SO foolish as to not have a single way to defend themselves. No matter how much you love wild animals and want to protect them.. they do NOT love you. It was hubris of the highest degree to not have a healthy fear of those giant creatures.

They deserve conservation but protect yourself or pay the price... which they obviously did.

I can't deny it... Geraldine's smile was so very infectious! I'm so sorry to hear that this world lost that.

I don't understand how some random forester was able to stumble across Geraldine's camp but no one from the rescue team was able to. Especially since she wasn't that far off from the trail. That is so absolutely tragic.

I've watched so many of these "photos with disturbing backstories" videos, but Geraldine's story has been the only one that actually made my chest hurt. The way she was so positive and even at the end how she accepted her fate, and the photo of her smiling so brightly. It just makes my heart ache

Whenever someone thinks they've somehow outsmarted mother nature or wild animals... We get a Mr. Ballen video out of it.

The photo of the 1st woman made tear up a bit. Such a beautiful smile. She looked like a great person and she had to go through all that horror. Alone.

The “grizzly man’s” arrogance turned him into food. sadly, Amy died because she listened to him.

I like how Timothy called the bear a “ it” when he was being eaten alive by one. Before that he was treating them like they weren’t wild animals running off of instinct.

The little baby bonus part of the video was the cutest thing I've seen in ages 🥺❤️

If I'm ever involved in a horrific event, I want this guy to tell the world my story.

That lady looked so kind, makes me sad they didn’t find her in time.

The third story was told pretty accurately. I was born on an island in Alaska and my mother actually met the guy who was eaten alive by a bear. She was working as a park ranger at the time, and whenever she told me about her encounters with bears, he would sometimes come up. She told me how she always had to stop him from getting too close to the bears because he kept acting recklessly around them, and everyone in the town was expecting him to get killed at some point because we're all taught at a young age the danger of the bears. Both me and my mother were born and raised in Alaska, so it pretty much common knowledge for us to stay away from bears as much as possible, especially the cubs. If you interact with the cubs and the mother comes back, you are most likely going to get attacked or even killed. The bears in Alaska are much larger than black bears, but they typically only kill humans in self-defense unlike black bears who kill them for food. The only exception is usually around August, when they're getting ready to hibernate. Playing dead is actually the best course of action when you're being attacked by a bear up there if you don't have a weapon, and even with a weapon it takes multiple gunshot wounds to actually kill a bear. I'm fortunate enough to have never had any close encounters with bears (although I've seen them a lot), and the closest I've gotten was when I was on a hike with my mother and I heard one scratching a tree in the distance. My mother didn't hear it, so she shrugged it off and we kept walking. However, as we kept walking she started to hear it too, and right around the corner we could see the bear. Thankfully we were able to turn around before it noticed us, and my mom made sure I didn't try to run or do anything that would alert it.
