Played the demo on a whim just cause I had time to kill, and left very impressed by the game so far. I will definitely be keeping an eye on reviews of the final product and may dip back in on the full version.

Game is amazing, I probably died like 100 times during the demo but I had fun with it and kept playing it regardless. Also, this is my first soulslike, but it reminds me of the crazy difficulty of the old 16-bit games back in the day. They do need to fix the dodging though; either that, or work on extending the timing needed to do the perfect block. That's probably my only gripe with the game, but it's honestly not going to deter me from purchasing it on day one!

I appreciate the effort to help players acclimate to a new game more easly, as sadly in the Demo the tutorial segments aren't very well implemented but the game has a lot of promise and I'm very hyped for it after finished the Demo a couple of times and investing tens of hours to it xD. I had no difficulty in getting used to the mechanics, but I've played a lot of Fromsoft's Dark Souls and derivatives and other Souls-likes, and to me it was clear that the tutorial was 1) Not always done at the right time (eg. The groggy tutorial is given to you after your first death, and not the first time that an enemy gets groggy, and 2) The time a tutorial message stayed on screen, was kinda short. More so if you're in the middle of a fight where you can't stop to read the text so easly. So, I just want to make some constructive criticism and clarifications to help better those interested:
A) The Fable Arts, at least in the Demo, even if they have a big similarity to the Ashes of War of Elden Ring, they need Fable (sorta like the mana of Lies of P.), which is an energy that you gain by attacking and hitting enemies. And at least 50% of the Fable Arts in the Demo, are kinda useless as they are almost the same as a basic or charged attack. But the other half are useful, so with some luck in the final product we will have a lot of useful ones, I mean, more than half of the Ashes of War are also kinda useless xD.
B) there aren't a lot of new mechanics to master; attacking, blocking, evading, backstabs and Fatal attacks already are part of the FromSoft and Souls-like genre, even the Rally system is similar, but not the same as in Bloodborne, it's just that some are tweaked to give them a different flavour. The only different things are the Rally system, which instead of working every time you recieve damage, only activates when you block, the durability system, which is way more prevalent but is easier to control if you pay attention, the fact that your healing item can be recharged once every time you get to 0 vials thanks to attacking, your mana is more of an energy that is chargable when hitting enemies, that when you block at the exact same moment you're going to be hit, instead of open the enemy for a fatal attack you don't lose health, durability of your weapon, can push back some enemies, accumulate groggy and can break their weapons and the fact that you have a tool that has it's own energy; the mechanical arm. So trully it is a revamp and/or combination of already existing mechanics. And I love it all, believe me, it is similar enough to understand quickly how it works, but has enough difference to be it's own thing and I'm all in for it. But even so I wouldn't say that "Soullike veterans are going to find plenty of new mechanics to master". Yeah, the combination of different weapons to be able to combine different handles and blades and so different stats, Fable Arts and movesets is quite ingenious, but the rest... I'd say not so much, at least in my opinion, as a veteran Soulslike player.
C) In the video, a couple of details, when talking about how you lose a bit of health when you block that you can regain attacking, when the zoom in is done, you don't actually show the whited out fragment of your life that you can regain, as clerly the damage is done without blocking as said fragment doesn't appear, until after zooming out again (small thing, I know, but it is as it is). And the same with the Perfect Block and the red weapon. When it is red it means it is being damaged, but it is not yet broken. When a weapon breaks it literally breaks in half, or the head of the weapon, depending of the type. But the fact is that when it is broken, you see the change in the weapon shape. If you see that a weapon glows red, it means you've succeded in doing a Perfect Guard, or you've hit directly the weapon and it is recieveing damage. But until it snaps and breaks in half or a part of it, it is still at full damage and reach.
D) when an enemy becomes groggy (their health bar starts glowing white) you don't have to "lay into them with heavy attacks", but with a charged attack. A basick attacks is R1/RB, a heavy/strong attack is R2/RT, while to stagger a groggy enemy and leave it open to a Fatal Attack, you need a Charged Attack, which is holding R2/RT, as if you only press it, it deas heavy/strong, but if you hold it, it does Charged, and that is the one you need. I've seen a lot of players as I've been watching reviews of the Demo, make the mistake of just pressing it, and as they see it doesn't work they get frustrated and even completly ignore the mechanic. Again, in part due to the poor implementation of the Tutorial Tips, which I hope they really fix for the release, as right now for me that is the only true problem of the game; if you're not very familiar with Souls-likes or you don't pay much attention/explore or read the menus and items you posses, you may get frustrated and end up thinking it is badly done when the only problem is the poor implementation of the Tutorial.
E) "Pressing down on the D-Pad and pressing X" isn't how you sharpen your weapons and recover their durability, as you can place the Grinder (the item that does this) both up and down. Yes, in the Demo it is down, and yes, in X-Box the button is X, but if you are in PS, the button is Square, and if you move it and put it on the upper belt, then it ends up being Up and Square. I know, a nitpick and everyone with half a brain will surely understand how it works, but I believe clarity is important, even more when you're giving tutorials and tips. Which is why I'm saying that the tutorial of the Demo isn't very good and I hope they polish it for the end product, as some things aren't very clearly stated.
F) For the side quest, be careful, as it seems that depending on your choices, the reward may differ. Being completly different one reward from the other, or just not recievien X reward or just less of it.
So, that is all. I know, most of these are nitpicks and mostly clarification that may not be needed, but just in case. I think clarity and the specifics are key to tutorials and advices, so I just wanted to give a bit of that. The Demo is really enjoyable, it truly gives you a lot of way to approach fights, and the problems I'm most seeing in the gameplays is that people don't realize how some mechanics work, or are complaining about things that the game truly isn't at fault as what it aims to do, does great. And truth be told, many of those problems could be avoided if people paid more atention or just explored the menus and read all the things that the character has, be it items or equipment, as a lot of people don't even know what some Fable Arts do just because they didn't read the characteristics of the weapon they are using. But even so, the tutorial still needs to be well implemented, but apart from that I wouldn't say that there truly are any other notable problems. The dodge works perfectly, it just isn't made to gain distance but for you to use the i-frames, at least until you get a skill that upgrades it and gives you the option to also gain distance, the Perfect Block works, and believe me when I say it as I've always sucked at parrying in souls games, yet I've broken a lot of weapons in the Demo. So if I was able, anyone who is good at it also can, and if some can't I'm sorry but it's just that parrying isn't your forte, or at least not in this game xD. The hitboxes are really polished as I've seen the arm of a Boss practically comb the hair of P. but not hit him as he was taller than me and that attack went a bit over my head, and that is to have a really polished hit box. I've played hundreds of hours in Monster Hunter; World, and I'd wager thousands on Souls games, so I'd say I know when a hit box isn't polished. The mechanical arm is a very useful and promising tool, the Fable Arts for the Demo are 50/50, as some do work really good (the electrifyin handle and the somersault smash handle, the Sable handle that gives you a small boost of attack and the Police Batton both handle and "blade" which can combine to deliver a very strong hit, and even the Perfect Guard of the Greatsword) but others are or too slow to be useful, or their damage is almost the same as a basic or Charged Attack, so they become a waste of Fable energy. The ambiance and the story a really gripping, and the tempo of the game works well for it, the areas may not be very big but it seems there is going to be a lot of them, and the sound effects and the music are also very good. So I would really recommend to anyone interested to at least keep an eye out for when it releases as it has a lot of promise, and if they polishe a couple of small details, but above all the Tutorial, it will be an awesome Souls-like in par with Nioh 1 and 2. I for one am definetively hyped for it and am going to get it on release.
So yeah, nice video to help the players and those interested in Lies of P. and I hope my criticism and clarifications didn't seem like an attack or anything, as my intention is just to help a bit.

It seems like there is a long delay after you attack before you can dodge. Not sure if its the weapon im using or not.

A really good demo when I tried it yesterday. But that dodge seemed pointless. No matter how hard he tried to dodge at the right time, he still hit. Is it just a lack of practice, but it caught my eye

I literally just found the demo and just started playing just now. It's definitely late to the party. But I beat the first boss, and yeah, that was a bit rough. So far, this game is great. I'm looking forward to next weekend on early access
