Moraband/Korriban is the Istanbul/Constantinople of the Star Wars universe.

Here's a solution so fans & Lucas can both get what they want:

Pre-Darth Bane: It was named Korriban
Post-Darth Bane: It was named Moraband.

Bonus: Coruscant when it was controlled by the Sith at that time was called Had Abbandon (original name for the capital for ROTJ) & when it was liberated by the Jedi, it was named/re-named Coruscant.

K sounds a lot more sharper and evil than M

Not only the Sith Homeworld was called Korriban and Moraband, but it was also called Pesegam during the reign of Xim in Legends.

Although the change makes sense (empires change over time, cities are renamed) I still prefer and continue to say Korriban. Some locations are too historically important to be renamed (such as Rome, Athens, Paris, London, Moscow, etc).

Difference?
In Legends, it's even more badass.

My grand knowledge of the Sith Homeworld comes from the games Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic/Sith Lords. I learn a lot from Korriban (it's the actual name in the games) in the games from Naga Sadow to Exar Kun on that planet before Darth Bane existed. Going to the Sith Homeworld gave me the shiivers on how that planet is dark and evil, but it gets darker in The Sith Lords

I heard the actual reason Lucas wanted the name changed was because he felt that Korriban sounded too much like Coruscant and he didn't want people to confuse the names. But it doesn't really matter, they obviously kept the spirit of the planet the same. I think this is what will happen with all Legends material that is re-introduced into canon. They did the same thing with Thrawn even, he is essentially the same character, except for the timeline, they put him in the BBY timeframe now instead of his original ABY timeframe. It appears that they want to keep the spirit of Legends intact, but they need to adjust the overall timelines of everything to make sure nothing contradicts each other. So just be prepared for Revan and other Old Republic stuff to come back, but with altered timelines and minor adjustments (such as a name change)..

Korriban is way cooler. But they thaught that Moraband maybe sounds more gloomy.

I Really hope Korriban/Moraband WILL appear in the 2nd half of Rebels season 3. Would make a great ep or 2 to take place seriously...

What if the Jedi changed the name after the planet was abandoned to keep future dark siders from finding it? I think that would be a good explanation.

The planet also went by the name Pesegam during Xim the Despot's rule in Legends.

It's Korriban, it should have always remained Korriban!

Maybe someone (most likely the jedi or republic) wanted everyone to forget about the Sith, so they changed the planet name from Korriban to Moriban in order to turn people away.

Korriban is such a great name, I don't even know why Moraband came across... maybe it has a meaning ?
Anyway Korriban's story is mainly told through legends so the name can stay has it is ;)
