Alan watts and many other philosopher's surfaced this idea back in the 80s. Also noting people would have a psychological hangup on this idea. Technology works for you so society pay's itself basically is what it comes down to. So we are about 5-7 years late on implementation. There are 2 problems I don't hear people talking about concerning UBI. First, will UBI be indexed to the annual inflation rate? The second one is once UBI becomes universal what measures will be put in place to prevent gouging from retailers or landlords from raising rates just because they know people have more disposable income? Both of these issues will erode the value of UBI and need to be addressed.

Ubi is a must since covid especially, money only goes in circles from one hand to anothers to government and back to us then back to government, taxes on everything, all money goes into gas, food, shelter, bills, medications, tooth paste etc....the government ALWAYS gets it back with INTEREST!

Just some simple mathematics here. 322 million multiplied by 12, 000 per year. That equals about 4 trillion a year. Or a little under 2 trillion if you only make taxpayers eligible for the UBI. Or about the same amount we spend on traditional welfare programs already(Including Social Security, Medicare, etc) . Speaking honestly here, you could scrap most of the welfare programs we have in the U.S now and replace it with a UBI and I'm pretty sure most people would see it as an improvement.

1k a month in cold cash is infinitely better than 2k in food stamps and other conditional welfare so long as you're smart about using it.

We need the UBI now with a price set and freeze, to prevent greedy landlords from putting rents up and perhaps hyperinflation.

Universal basic income still goes to richest. We need ownership of the companies we buy from; see Louis Kelso's economy. We basically universally own companies by purchasing them via their future profits. Unless the government taxes hell out of corporations and rich individuals to pay for ubi. It needs to be a circle, not a triangle to the top. We could keep printing money to dish out but it will still go to top and we will keep having to print. Branson wants it cos it makes him richer. The companies and owners aren't at fault they have to compete so have to adapt technologies. If we don't have any money to buy their stuff, how are they going to make a profit or even have a business.

Experimenting in cities is not going to be a good indicator of how it’ll do nationwide. I think the only way to test the viability of UBI is to implement it nationwide and for several years

Humans are just now realizing it that they too are worthy of it

With UBI every human on this planet will be a much more productive member of society

Nah, if A.I. takes over every job, then goods and services will be so cheap that you won't need a job to buy them or your A.I. will work on your behalf.

Best way for this guy to help the less fortunate is for him and 10 of his closest buddies and acquaintances to donate their own money to the poor. These frauds have more money than they could possibly exhaust in 5 lifetimes. Instead of buying islands and continuing to live like royalty, put your money where your heart is supposed to be (assuming that you have one).
