After 11 months of haggling, the Broward County School Board and the Broward Teachers Union have agreed on a new contract.

The board on Tuesday voted 6 to 3 to approve the contract, but before the vote, board member Torey Alston said there was “blatant corruption” in the process, saying the union endorsed board members who pledged to support the package, accusing unnamed colleagues on the board of colluding with the union.

💰 Ummm… that’s not what I understand pay to play corruption is at all. Maybe you can call it a cousin to that, but you could do the same thing with any voter. What if I want my politicians to lower my taxes and I don’t vote for them if they raise taxes. You call that pay to play corruption?

They’re just voting for people they believe are giving them a proper deal negotiation. Now there is an issue sometimes with politicians who will get public sector unions a better contract since they are negotiating with taxpayer money. But I’ve never called that “pay to play“.

It seems that Mr. Alston has more respect for decorum than does Ms. Fusco.

Poor financial management...1 smart board member understands this isn't how you handle 1x time funds.
