Yikes. This is what happens when you only read the Cliff notes for your oral book report. The teacher is always going ask you the obvious.

For everyone saying they can't hear the reporter: Turn on Closed Captioning. The Captions did a good job of capturing the reporter's words. In fairness, he doesnt have a mic so he is gonna come in a lot quieter.

Cheers

This is what happens when alternative facts meet reality. Jason Smith is roasted as he should have been. Unprepared and in WAY over his head.

The jerk up the front got caught, absolutely stumped and the journalist did a great job of holding his feet to the fire

Reporter: "Biden wasn't a candidate at that time"
Smith: "And?"
Reporter: "And you're saying there was political influence even though he literally was not a candidate"
Smith: "And?"
Reporter: "So how can you say there was political influence, when Biden wasn't a politician?"
Smith: "What news outlet are you from?"
Reporter: "NBC"
Smith: "I see. You're fake news. Get fucked. Next question"

I guess when your entire personality revolves around this, it's distressing when someone questions that.

Appearantly, this Jason guy hasn't heeded his own advice by reading the document he's talking about.

You have to wonder about a Chairman of the Ways & Means Committee can't remember who was in office in August of 2017. Smith has held his house seat from Missouri since 2013.

The next questioner should've said, "I want an answer to the previous questioner's question."

“We have proof he used his political power to get money”

Ok - what’s the proof?

“The document”

The document has information that doesn’t match reality / history

“Then go report that - wtf do you want from me?!”

^ this was my summary of the exchange

That was an extremely simple question that anyone presenting a case of criminal malfeasance should be able to answer immediately. This man is not up to the task. If there even is one.

Wow, this Missouri representative was grossly unprepared…. It might not have been the smartest move to bring up that subject to begin with. Clearly strategy is not part of his modus operandi.
