Predicting the 2023 Rugby World Cup Dream Team...

The best player in each position at the Rugby World Cup! With so many teams in the running to be crowned world champions, it made it a difficult task to narrow down exactly who will shine in each position.

I've managed to include players from 7 different countries in my predictions and interestingly, only one player remains from the 2019 Dream Team.

Geez it is rare but I could not disagree more with most of the team ahahah respect your choices but strongly disagree.

1. I don't see Genge, even if a good player, getting on top of Kitsoff or Baille for this world cup.
2. Sheehan I agree even if Marx, Marchand, or even Cody Taylor might have a say.
3. Hardest position to select but I believe the heavy ones will shine such as Malherbe, Atonio, or even Scalvi from Argentina! Of course, Furlong is in the mix but recently he has been a bit off form.
4. Beirn is a great player but he is number 5 in my opinion. I believe Itoje, Flament, Ryan, or Scott Barrett will shine.
5. Eben I agree. Nothing much to say haha
6. Du Toit is not what he used to be, unfortunately. Frizell and
7. Ollivon will shine I imagine. VdF I don't see him performing at the same level and Willis will do good.
8. Savea is an obvious choice but I put a bet on Alldritt or Doris.
9. Dupont I agree. The rest are not even close.
10. Mo'unga and NTamack. Maybe even Libbok or Sexton.
11. Jordan I agree. Kolbe could be in the mix but not Arendse.
12. Hard to know. Tuipolutu? Danty? I don't think Barrett will be up there.
13. Fickou is a good choice. I can also see Ringrose rising to the occasion.
14. Penaud will surprise a lot of people at this world cup.
15. Barrett and Ramos will be in the fight. Without forgetting Steward.

So if I have to give a definitive list and make hard choices I will have:

1. Baille 2. Sheehan 3. Malherbe
4. Flament 5. Eben
6. Doris 8. Alldritt 7. Ollivon
9. Dupont 10. Mo'unga
12. Tuipulutou 13. Fickou
11. Jordan 15. Ramos 14. Penaud

I know the host is heavily represented but I believe they will go far in the competition, hence the number of French in the squad.

Excellent breakdown and I even as an Irish person there might be more French players in the team of the tournament. Just a note we pronounce tadgh as" tie igg". Say that fast and your golden. 👍

Your picks are great, and I would have alot of the same players on my teamsheet however, the front row is where I disagree most. The All Black have just dominated South Africa, Australia and Argentina in the front and although Tamaiti Williams was part of that Tyrel Lomax and Ethan De Groot have been the standouts so I would put them both in. At 8 Charles Ollivon walk in the team and could be the one to watch at the RWC. I would put Ardie at 6 and can’t believe I am leaving out Caelan doris who is also very special. In the backs I would only change Thomas Ramos at fullback. Excellent vid tho!

Wow, all of those choices indicate a man who absolutely loves rugby! I thoroughly enjoyed watching that.

As a Scot, I live in terror of the World Cup with SA, Ireland and Tonga in our group, but you never know, we like the underdogs tag and we are approaching the tournament knowing that Finnball is not only the most attractive option for us, but ironically the most practical as well.

The draw is a disgrace, but my prediction is that the first game of the World Cup will also be the last, and that would be a fitting final.
