For clay soil you need to add pelletized gypsum that you can get from the feed stores. It will help break up the clay and also need to add compost, compost and compost.

New sub, we're doing the very same or similar thing. Bought land in 2017 built in 22. Just trying to be sustainable. You're the only person I've ever heard sound so excited about growing wheat besides myself hahaha.

We all getting ready to start a New Year. I don't know about anyone else but January is the time that I begin to plan my gardening. And what I'm going to plant. I do crop rotation in my garden every year. If I plant corn in one area of my garden the year before then the next following year I will plant green beans or my corn was the year before and where green beans was the year before is where I plant my corn the next following year. The reason behind this is the same reasons why farmers do crop rotation every year to prevent nematodes and corn bars. Plus by planting my green beans for my corn was the year before reestablishes nitrogen back in the area. And in the area where I plant my tomatoes the year before I will plant turnips in that area and then I will plant my tomatoes in the area where I have my turnips at the year before. Beautiful home and land. Just wanted to let you know the shrub, I it was a blueberry, that was planted right next to the telephone pole post May struggle because of what they treat them with. That was my experience with trying to grow my stuff by them.
