If you (like me) have an external audio interface, this didn't work.
Here's what worked for me:
under Preferences, Video and Audio IO
I had to select ASIO and Save Settings but
nothing happened and I couldn't change other audio related settings beyond that (they were greyed out)..

So close the app then reopen it,
go in Video and Audio IO again,
the audio options should be editable now.
Change the Device to whatever your device is called (XXX USB ASIO).
Leave Automatic Speaker Configuration checked.
Save the Settings then restart the app.
Audio should work now.

One last thing, click on the speaker icon if it's red (muted),
it's located on the right side, middle of the screen in Edit mode,
mine was muted for some reason.

Hope this helps someone out there!

Fantastic! So weird, worked fine just a bit earlier, had to do a restart on the PC, and DaVinci somehow changed the audio output. Legendary fast and to the point!

This is the first tutorial I'm leaving a like and comment on, genuinely I hate other tutorials, even if they work they're always extremely long, sometimes don't work and are acting overly happy, like why are you talking in such a happy voice when I'm pissed that my audio is working lol.

Works great! Thank you! For those saying it doesn't work, you may need to restart Davinci Resolve AFTER changing the setting for the audio to work. I got a popup dialog indicating that audio output wouldn't change until after restarting Davinci Resolve.

If anyone is struggling with this and has wireless earbuds/headphones, I was able to hear the audio again after I completely turned off Bluetooth, exited resolve, and then reopened the program and my project. If you want to use wireless earbuds, you need to manually go in, select your earbuds for the output device in Preferences --> video and audio IO --> output device --> unselect automatic speaker configuration --> scroll down and manually select your device --> save changes --> exit resolve and reopen.

What if one project has no audio while another, under identical settings, does? Taking screenshots of both projects timeline etc shows no difference. Also i didn’t add any sound FX.
