A 24 minute rant on the Q2 is such an unnecessary upgrade. Translation: “It is too expensive for me, so I will do a mild dis to express my displeasure.”

You might want to make sure you have all the information before you put a product down. I have a DD1 which has broke pins in 2 podium LE F1 Wheels. Because of this i have no choice but to upgrade to the QR2 or replace the QR1 i have. Also Fanatec is going to give you a choice of the QR2 or QR1 when you buy wheels or Bases. You put out info with half the info.

There is always that one dude who’s trying to be different and fabricate something to go against the grain of everyone else to seem relevant.

It’s also hard to take advice from a guy playing an arcade game against AI set to easy so he can drive past them like they’re standing still.

The new QR2 isn’t perfect but literally fixed every issue with the QR1 for the same price the QR1 use to cost.

They can't win, if they had just brought out the new Q2 system with no ability to upgrade your Q1 people would have gone crazy. They did the right thing to offer backward compatability, but now be called out for wanting money from it.
Just ordered the DD+ (and 4 QR2) which will be my third type of wheelbase over the last 10 plus years, never had a problem with any of them. They are an absolute mess when it comes to producing enough product, speed of shipping and keeping you informed, but they have been ground breaking in the products they've offered us over the years.
Loads of companies now on the bandwagon but I will always be grateful for them giving me another option to the Thrust /logi gear. The day I opened the box with my Porsche 918 wheel (V1) was an absolute wow moment, especially when you compared it to what was available then.

Wasn't an issue at all and is super easy to do. Price is worth it for sure. You over thought it before even trying yourself. All qr2s work better then qr1. Its so so easy to do. Also people are over thinking this. Omg it takes 8nm so what. Get a wrench that measures it for you. Also no you dont need to be identical. Either way you over thought this. Now 6 months later everyone wants the qr2. And we are about to see all wheels and bases m being qr2 also.

I change ALL my wheels, xbox hub and custom rims for QR2. Its a game change. No more screws attached on DD2, extremely easy to change wheels. The best choice its a QR2 ( no lite or pro, because lite with plastic and pro its overprice product ).

Every company upgrades stuff, ps4-ps5 . If you want to buy it buy it.
A lot of stuff with sim racing is, is it for fun so Logitech g29 ( nothing wrong with it) or more serious lap time racing. With a QR2 if you get a bit more confidence with it driving that will give you lap time so maybe the upgrade will benefit you. For this reason .
If you have a dd pro, dd1 or 2 your more than likely to class it as a hobby rather than pass time so would warrant the upgrade.

As far as I can see the new 12 and 15nm systems come with it as standard so will need to force an upgrade all the rest are optional ?

A Torque wrench/driver tool is cheap. You should have one if you built an aluminum extrusion chassis, or if you work on cars, bikes or guns. Also, Loctite bolts that are subject to vibration.

Totally agree. My QR1's have been rock solid.

Another reason to upgrade to the QR2 is if you switch between wheels a lot then then the QR2 is much quicker and easier.

The QR1 isn't hard but it is a bit time consuming. Turn the locking knob, pull the wheel off hopefully without hitting your chest or face, adjusting the stem to be in the correct position, put on the wheel, tighten the locking knob.

QR2 you pull the mechanism back and pull on the wheel, then push on the new wheel.

My QR2 system comes in today so I'll be curious if I can feel any differences between the two.

Fanatec just began offering the metal QR1 wheel side quick connect again on the website for $49.95 each. I just ordered one. However, I previous ordered the new QR2 base side connector so I would already have it when I decide to finally update to the QR system.

Interesting points and very helpful. My experience with the QR1 USB-C is the base side has some issues with slipping out the DD. I did a blog post on how I fixed with some sand paper. Because I bought the QR1 Lite wheel side, I'm thinking I'll end up ordering the QR2 with non-Lite version wheel side. If the base side similarly slips, I'll do the same sand paper mod.

Agreed, they can definitely provide a wrench key with a torque marker, and at that price point they should. I also won't be upgrading. I'll be glad to take the v1 wheels of someone's hand with irreplaceable hubs.

If I was having any issues with the QR1 I would upgrade my two wheels, but as of now, I have no reason to upgrade.

Watching this a year later. What a ride! 😂😂😂

The Bentley wheel is out. Most seem to dislike it based on its looks and cost.

A doppleganger company (or two) are making knockoff QR2s and selling them for up to $40 less than what Fanatec wants.

After falling further and further behind in customer services and fulfilling orders, its been revieled that Fanatec's parent company fell into insolvency. As a condition of Fanatec's parent company's deal with lending banks, the company was forced to fire its founder/CEO. Shortly after appointing an interim CEO Fanatec offered itself up for sale.

After a long and dramatic production from Fanatec's investors and former CEO, Fanatec was bought by Corsair.

Yeah. Fanatec has been through some things over the past 12 months but, their lack of products makes sense after all that happened. I am glad that Corsair will allow them to do, what they do best.

Now if they can better address the prices of the QR2. When bought with a wheel, the QR2 should have a huge discount.

But that most likely will not happen.

And never listen to a sim racer who doesn’t race in cockpit mode when they use a wheelbase 🤣🤣🤣

At least torque wrenches are cheap. Especially the wrenches made for bikes.

I'll be jumping in. I want a QR2Lite combo and one regular QR2. And I am using a CSL-DD wheelbase, although I plan on upgrading to the CS-DD a while after it is available.
