Hey, Casey, helpful demo! One tip that I've discovered that shortens the process: rather than decanting many times I've found that if I decant just a couple of times and then pour the remaining seed and pulp into the strainer I can expel the last of the pulp (which is very mushy by now) out of the strainer with a forceful stream of water. Seeds remain, and I've used less water and less time!

Best tomato seed saving video I`ve seen so far. Thanks. SSE knows their stuff. Also, "SEED TO SEED" by Suzanne Ashworth goes into great detail on seed saving and storage.

This video assumes you know what seed fermentation is, how it is achieved, and why it is done.

What do you cover the jar with while it's fermenting?

Do I have to go thru fermentation to save them? Why can't I just put them in a strainer, wash and dry them?

Can you save the seeds from any tomato even if you have  several varities planted in the same area?   Do the flowers when planted in close proximity cross pollinate so when you plant the seed from the original fruit you come up with something strange or wonderful depending on how you liik at it

Why ferment? Why not just remove seed mucus in strainer?

Perhaps you can explain the difference between a ripe tomato and an overripe tomato with words, not just showing them side-by-side. They look identical in color in this video.
