Mikey, I so appreciate your taking the time to really break down the basic steps that anyone wanting to learn crochet, need to know.  You're articulate and you don't talk a mile a minute, which so many instructors tend to do.  I thank you because although I've been crocheting for awhile now, I tend to doubt myself just about all of the time for some reason so your last tip was key for me.  Thanks again!

Thanks for all your help and good tips Mikey.  I just think it's wonderful that you are helping so many people learn the art of crochet and you are keeping the art alive!! I have been crocheting for years... but have still learned many things from you.  Keep up the good work!

Excellent tutorial. All of the things that you said that you do Mikey, I do them too. I finally smartened up and always, always, make a cheat sheet. Watch those periods, and commas. One afghan I find is good for challenging oneself is The Textured Throw. I have mentioned before that I have only made afghans where they were done in the Granny style. DC over and over. Why did I do that? Simply, I didn't trust myself. I always thought "oh that's for smart people". It wasn't until I started to watch tutorials like Mikey's that I started to trust myself. I won't allow myself TO SAY " I COULD NEVER DO THAT" one step at a time. I am also keeping a diary, telling myself what I have learned or telling myself when I'm proud of myself and why. Is it ever fun to read a month after I wrote it. "DON'T BE AFRAID TO ASK". Well, off of my soap box BE KIND TO YOURSELF AND LIKE THE LITTLE TRAIN SAID "I THINK I CAN, I KNOW I CAN. HAVE FUN Dorothy

Excellent tips. I have made the same frustrating mistakes because I get over zealous in my creations. These tips are a perfect reminder for all crafters.

Thanks Mikey for you great tips...I just want to add...when I struggle with reading a pattern I will take a blank piece of paper and write out (or translate) the pattern...this has helped me a lot....

I started out by typing the pattern out in Word, adding every instruction and including every repeat written out in place so I could check it off as I went.

I never read crochet pattern but I make by looking at the picture, now at I'm older I started to read the pattern. I started with a baby jacket it was easy because I follow Mikey's tutorial it was easy. Now I'm try the little sweetie dress it not easy but I have not giving up, listen to what he said believe in yourself "THANK YOU, MIKEY"

Thank you so much. I tend to get easily frustrated and question whether or not to even keep crocheting when a pattern doesn't work. It's comforting to know that even you get frustrated!

Thanks Mikey. I love your tips and I agree, believing in yourself is so important. It still amazes me that I am able to crochet anything but I believed in myself and slowly I am building my skills and making better and better things. Wouldn't have been able to do it without you though. You're videos have been so helpful.

Excellent video!  But honestly, THAT SCARF!!  So gorgeous I think it distracted me and I missed a couple of your tips!  I have to go back and watch again. Want to point me in the direction of that pattern?

Great video, great scarf...Mikey rules!

thank you Mikey! due to your AWESOME tutorials i DO believe in myself & my abilities more now :) For years I only made scarves, hats & blankets. But this spring I made my first baby garment!! The Little Sweetie Dress for my granddaughter :) It came out PERFECT (in large part due to your wonderful vid tutorial on it!) That project gave me the confidence to make her a little jacket to go with it and of course she had to have a blankie! I am currently working on a little dress for one of our other granddaughters :) You've created an addict!! hahahahaha I can't thank you enough!!! :D (now if i can just figure out reading diagrams holy wow!!!)
