Hop in the time machine as we revisit Niles Crane's funniest moments and most memorable storylines on Frasier alongside Kelsey Grammer. From his slow-burn romance with Daphne to his epic rivalry with brother Frasier, it's easy to see why Pierce won four Emmys for this fan-favorite role. But when Frasier ended, Pierce made a pivotal career move by leaving sitcoms behind and returning to his first love: theater.

We'll take you inside Pierce's triumphs on the Broadway stage, including showstopping turns in Spamalot and Hello, Dolly! Theater critics praise Pierce as a "comic genius" whose physical comedy kills on stage. Though Hollywood came calling throughout his career, Pierce found he was most creatively fulfilled working in musicals.

Beyond acting, Pierce has conducted notable advocacy work for Alzheimer's research and LGBTQ+ rights. He married his longtime partner Brian Hargrove when same-sex marriage was briefly legalized in California in 2008. After keeping his sexuality private for years, Pierce came out publicly in 2007 to a warm reception.

Join us as we analyze why you won't find Pierce on any major TV shows or films lately. For this versatile Emmy winner, Hollywood glitz has taken a backseat to theater passion and using his voice for change. While Pierce is absent from the screen, his talents still shine bright on the Broadway stage.

he'll always be Niles, whether he likes it or not. To be that equated with a character you practically gave life to, is the ultimate compliment. I hope Pierce realizes that!

Loved Niles. The way they played off each other was great. I had a lot of laughs watching the show. As an animal lover Eddie stole my heart. Dad was wonderful and kept them grounded. Writers were amazing.

He's an amazing talent!! I tried watching the new Frasier but it's not the same without Niles and Marty.

Without a doubt, my favorite episode is not so much an episode but the opening to one: The Valentine's Day one that opens with Niles waiting for his date and notices that his pants' crease was not perfect. What ensues is a progression of hilarity that culminates with him finally fainting at the sight of his own blood. I could watch that opening a thousand times and still laugh out loud.

David did an amazing job as Niles, some actors are not crazy about Hollywood, and I deeply respect that, we can remember him as a star of Fraser but life goes on and he can do anything he wants with his endless talent, good luck David H Pierce ! We shall never forget you

The sheer energy David lent to the role of Niles Crane - especially in the first two seasons - was epic. If a spinoff series is to be successful, it has to stand on its own two feet and support its own weight without leaning too heavily upon the legacy of the series that birthed it.

Every character has to pull their own weight in order to achieve harmony in a series, and the sheer energy that David lent to the character of Niles is really what lifted Frasier off the ground. He made his character so neurotically lovable from the very first scene, it’s difficult to watch the Frasier reboot without him.

He decided not to return, that's was his decision and I respect that.

A cameo appearance by him in the Frasier reboot would be an absolute hoot. He once did a comedic musical performance on stage at Montreal's "Just For Laughs". It was stellar. Just as described here, his timing was impeccable, and highly entertaining.

I absolutely adore Mr. Pierce. His dedication to his craft is evident whether it be on stage, on TV, or directing. His timing and comedic talent, to me, is unmatched, and I also commend him for his work with the Alzheimer's Association. What a legacy he will leave behind for all of us one day; one that he should be truly so very proud of.

To David Hyde Pierce, although you may never read this comment I still want to express how important you are in my life because your character of Niles, although fictitious, has been a foundation that helped me get through undergrad. Now, my later in life project has it's challenges just like your fictional son is experiencing. I'd love to see you return, if only to wish your tv son well, that would inspire so many. I truly am your devoted fan. First and foremost, please be well and stay well.❤
Happy Holidays

"The Show Where Diane Comes Back" was an episode of Frasier in season 3. It was not a Cheers episode, nor was Niles in Cheers as a one off, a recurring character or otherwise. He wasn't promoted to regular cast member in Frasier, it was where he first appeared. When Sam Malone visits Seattle in Frasier, he's never heard of Niles. He actually states that he didn't know Frasier had a brother.

He made a character his own, no one else could have done that with Niles and it is a talent.

It's a shame the majority of his fans will be denied his beloved character Niles Crane. We can appreciate his amazing skills as an actor and love of the stage but the majority of his fans will never be able to see him in those roles. To try to mimic his style and talent as Niles isn't really right, even as his son. There will always only be one Niles Crane. We wish him well and thank him for all the laughter and poignant moments he portrayed.

The episode of Frasier that I thought was Niles’ best was when he was at Frasier’s with Eddie, and he was ironing his pants and ended up starting a fire!!!!

Its not like he disappeared. He is on Broadway all the time, playing fantastic roles.

He IS on a current hit show ‘Julia’ on Max & it just premiered it’s second season. He plays Julia supportive, sophisticated husband. Pierce is entertaining in the role and I believe it may become more complex second half of this second season. Julia is a wonderful show. ‘Frazier’ cast not regular, but she was just on a new episode, Dr. Lilith Stern.

I loved David in "Sleepless in Seattle" too. My personal character resonates with Niles so much and I will forever love the TV series "Frasier" and the entire ORIGINAL cast (with Marty, Eddie, Roz and Daphne). Thank you for this lovely presentation!!! :)
