How To Connect Smart Bulb To 5ghz Wifi Router | Step by Step in less than 5 minutes

Are you trying to work out how to connect a smart bulb to a 5ghz Wifi Router? In this video I am showing 3 solutions that can help to connect a smart light bulb or other smart device to a router that supports both 5GHz and 2.4GHz WiFi.

Many modern routers do support both bands and this can cause issues when trying to connect a smart bulb or other device that only supports the 2.4 band.

Just got off the phone with Spectrum and he also had a great work around. He says that the setup for the bulbs and plugs initially go through the wifi on whichever phone you are using to set them up on. If you put your phone in power saver mode it will not try and access the 5g, it will go straight to the 2.4 g. It worked great for me.

These new advanced dualband routers do not give you options to login under router settings and they do not have a connection option for 2g or 5g

Great video, thanks you solved my problem but maybe the title should be more about the solution for those who are stuck during set up as almost 100% of the time, it is because of the 5MHz/2.4MHz issue...

This video is clearly deceptively labeled to obtain views that were unwarranted. A more effective wording would be how to connect a smart light bulb to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi on a dual band router. By wording it like that it indicates it's possible to connect a smart light to 5 GHz that is impossibly incompatible as someone is trying to determine if it's possible.

Thanks for the ideas. In my case the router had both 5g and 2.4g linked to the same connection point (same name). So I had to assign a different name to the 2.4 one in the router settings, so that Mi Home allows me to connect to it

I outright do not have 2.4 GHz, I only have 5 GHz, very misleading video title, more like “how to not use the 5 GHz“

If u have xfinity unfortunately just return your smart bulbs i have tried everything separating it to 2.4ghz will work for 3 mins then it will autom2mesh back to 5ghz even tho i separated it something with this firmware update not allowing this smh
